Here is what is making news for August 8, 2025.======================South-west livestock farmers are being invited to a free webinar on Monday, August 11, to learn how urea can boost pasture growth this winter.

Agriculture Victoria’s Nick Linden says new trials show applying 75 kilograms per hectare can more than triple pasture growth — vital for farmers facing drought feed shortages.
============================================The Beeac Progress Association will meet next Monday August 11, with a bike pump track up for discussion.

Locals are asked to have their say on whether the community will benefit from the track.

The meeting will be held at the Beeac Hall and begins at 7.30pm.
============================================As winter bites across the Barwon South West, Ambulance Victoria is reminding families to stay alert to burn risks in the home.

Acting Regional Director Stuart Reid says items like hot drinks, heaters, and water bottles can cause serious injuries if misused or left near children.============================================Families in Corangamite Shire doing it tough due to rising costs and ongoing drought are being urged to reach out to the Corangamite Food Bank.

Run by Camperdown & District Community House with Council support, the service supplies food hampers and essentials like nappies and hygiene products to residents right across the Shire.
============================================Farmers and regional Victorians are being urged to have their say through the Victorian Farmers Federation’s first-ever State of the State: Farmer Priorities Survey, launched to highlight the key challenges and opportunities facing rural communities.
============================================Lake Colac School has received a $5,000 Junior Landcare Grant to create a Tiny Forest on its grounds.

Students will work with local Landcare to plant native trees and shrubs in a 100 square metre space, attracting local wildlife and cooling the environment.

This hands-on project will teach students about biodiversity and how native plants support healthy ecosystems — turning the forest into a living classroom.

============================================Winchelsea lawn bowler Max Heaton Harris has helped Victoria win the Under 18s tri series Championship.

Heaton Harris was also named man of the series, and took out gold at the School Sports Australia championship.

The seniors side went down 4 0 to Barwon SC.

Division 2 lost 1 nil to Geelong Rangers.

While Division 3 lost 7 nil against Barwon SC.
