Here is what is making news for August 10, 2026.=====================================Agriculture Minister Michaela Settle has announced a mandatory fourteen-day poultry housing order for high-risk areas, including Colac Otway, Corangamite, and the Surf Coast.

Ms Settle says the biosecurity measure applies to owners with fifty or more birds following wild bird detections of H5 bird flu.

==========================================================================The Parliamentary inquiry into the January Otways Bushfires has found planned burning helped reduce the intensity during the outbreak.

The inquiry examined Victoria’s 2026 bushfire season, including preparations ahead of summer, the cause of the fires, the emergency response, and funding for fire agencies.

The report says the Kennedys Creek fire ran into a planned burn area, where the reduced fuel load lowered the fire’s intensity enough for crews to contain it.

Dom Dare has committed to another season at Alvie.

Tom Spokes and Matt Absalom will co-coach the Western Eagles for the 2027 season.
==========================================================================In this weekends CDFNL action The Colac Imperials defeated South Colac by 65.

Apollo Bay had a 7 point win against Otway Districts.

The Western Eagles produced the upset of the round beating Irrewarra-Beeac by 28 points.

Alvie had a 113 point win against Birregurra.

Rounding out the football results Lorne smashed Simpson by 95.

Over on the netball court Colac Imperials had a narrow two goal win against South Colac.

Otway Districts smashed Apollo Bay.

Irrewarra-Beeac beat Western Eagles by 16 goals.

Birregurra smashed Alvie.

and Lorne beat Simpson by 5 goals.
==========================================================================In the weekends Hampden League football result Koroit smashed Cobden by 98 points.

Portland also smashed Camperdown by 71.

Over on the netball courts Cobden didn't fair much better going down by 47 to Koroit.

Camperdown were competitive going by 8 to Portland.
