In this episode, the speaker takes a critical look at the city of Denver's approach to addressing nuisance crimes, specifically shoplifting and public order offenses. They delve into the numbers and statistics, revealing a concerning trend of rising shoplifting rates and the city's response to the issue.

The speaker argues that the city's approach to addressing shoplifting is misguided, citing the recent decrease in jail time for offenders and the resulting increase in shoplifting rates. They point out that the city's reliance on more police presence and arrests may not be the most effective solution, and that the real issue lies in the underlying causes of shoplifting, such as poverty and lack of access to affordable goods.

The conversation also touches on the topic of the city's response to the recent increase in shoplifting, including the creation of a working group to address the issue and the city's efforts to increase police presence in high-crime areas. The speaker questions the effectiveness of these measures and suggests that the city needs to take a more comprehensive approach to addressing the root causes of shoplifting.
