This episode is a wake-up call for anyone who thinks the US is prepared for the worst. The speaker, a former Undersecretary of Homeland Security, shares a personal story about the importance of continuity of government programs, or COOP and COG, which ensure the country can keep functioning even in the face of catastrophic events.

The speaker takes us back to September 11th, 2001, when the country came close to activating its COOP and COG plans. They explain how these programs are designed to keep essential government functions running, even if the physical buildings are destroyed or inaccessible. The speaker shares their experience of overseeing COOP and COG programs, which involve identifying mission-essential functions, planning for alternative work locations, and stockpiling critical supplies.

The episode delves into the Pentagon's new program, Fortress, which aims to make military bases self-sufficient for 90 days in case of a global war. The speaker questions the timing and scope of this program, pointing out that the idea of COOP and COG is not new, but the 90-day clock is a significant departure from previous plans. They also discuss the potential threats from Iran and China, and how the US might be preparing for a war with China.

The speaker's concerns are not just about the military, but about the country's overall preparedness for a catastrophic event. They urge listeners to consider the bigger picture and the potential consequences of not being prepared. To learn more about the COOP and COG programs, the Pentagon's new plans, and the potential threats facing the US, tune in to this episode.
