Heat dome and the affect on ocean life

A lot of people may have noticed the smell of sea life washed up on the shore during the heat dome. It was the smell of dead and empty mussel shells.  Mussels provide food for a lot of other animals and they are important ‘filter feeders’ that improve water quality.
