Already a huge following on TikTok/Instagram, what's next for Haven?
And we got a lovely girl here in the studio. I think Joakim dressed up just for her. Honestly, not for me. Obviously, he sees me every day in our most wretched state. This to me is like formal attire for the morning show. I usually in like my joggers and just a casual short of football. Sometimes it's slippers, by the way. Yeah, but no, but, but there's a good reason why I chose to dress up today for our guests because I feel like we are in the presence of somebody who is going to be a big star in the future. And I think like it stresses you out because she's effortlessly hot.
Joy was like joy was like, some people are just born with, with the X factor. I mean, look, you, look at the Singapore celebrity list, right? You know, there are people there who are meant to be stars and this one definitely is. Can we say hello to our guest this morning? Last welcome. Hey,
thank you so much for having me. I've been listening to you guys on my radio like almost every day. Thank you guys. I'm like, oh my God. It's, it's
them and you're like, I'm going to be on the show really soon. Do you feel like you've come full circle? Oh my God. Like, yeah, I mean, you are also live on tiktok right now. So are we, so please, if you are tuning into us or maybe it's more convenient for you to be on tiktok live. Leave a comment if you want to ask her anything. That's the perfect place to do it as well. That's it. Before we actually get to the nitty gritty of your new single and your career so far,
the first thing that popped up on my feet and I googled her for research right this time. Next Tuesday it's going to be your birthday. Oh my God. So, you know,
are you timing your new stuff in conjunction with that or just a coincidence?
Coincidence next week could be my big 20. So I'll be no longer a team. Yeah. How
does that make you feel?
I don't know how I feel because I just feel like I've always been a team. Now, I'm going to be finding 20.
Can I throw my headphones down to jo is like I'm out of here.
Lot of Yeah. OK. But hey, I mean, over the recent years, we've seen you really blossom and grow, you know, not just in your career in singing and so many other things you're so talented and also on social media as well. You've been growing so all in all like this experience so far. How have you personally grown as a person? Oh,
man, I feel like my music has really grown a lot with me as well. Just going through experiences. Like back then when I was 16,
first came out, like with my first song, I thought like, oh my God, I knew everything. I know what sadness means. But then actually actually experiencing and I feel like now knowing a lot more than I do in the past, I feel like, oh my gosh, I have so much more that I need to experience and I feel like those experiences can make better songs for myself in the future. So I'm very excited about that. No, I
dare say for Sonia and I during the pandemic 2020 21
it was those two years where I was just wondering who is this girl that keeps popping up on my feet? On my fyp? Why, why is she getting millions of views? And then we realize you can dance, you can sing, you can do one heck of a lip sync video as well. And for those who are not too familiar with you here in Singapore, like, I mean, in the mainstream world, aside from Tik Tok,
you want to give us a short intro as to who you are. How did you get noticed? How do you get signed by the Wild Team and also with your music as Well, give us a short brief walk
of my life. So I've always loved singing ever since I was a child. And I told myself, I really want to pursue this as a career because, you know, I went to uh depression and I was like, oh, what else can I do to express my feelings? You know, I wasn't really good at communicating in the past. So I thought music was the best way to do it.
So I started taking vocal classes. I took instruments and then I was scouted and I went through training for a couple of years. And then that's when you guys saw me on tiktok because when COVID hit, I feel like that was the hardest hit for me because I had so much plans coming out so many performances and then everything just stopped no more traveling, no more school, everything. So and then I was like, OK, let's see what I can do during my free time since I have so much of it now. So I would go on like tiktok lives every night, just do random stuff. And then
that really gave me a platform to connect with a lot of more people. And then I was very, very lucky to have met Wild and now I'm part of their family and now I get to create more music and more opportunities and especially getting to meet more people. And I'm also very thankful for you guys because you guys see me grow a lot throughout the years and I'm so happy to be
100%. Yeah. And now like, you know, looking back at all the brands you're working with. Now the events that you're at,
you know, um now that we see each other actually at different events, it's so nice to see and help each other grow at the same time. So let's talk about your new music. How has the reception been so far? We're very excited to hear you do a little a cappella version later. Oh my
gosh, I'm so in love with this song. You don't even understand. So, are
we, so are we,
this song was created based on because, you know, every single time I was like writing about love and I was like, damn, this is so depressing.
And then, you know, I've been seeing a lot of tiktok about like, oh, like the feminine energy. Like we got to start healing, start focusing on ourselves. I was like, you're right, you know, I feel like women or men as well. Like we should empower ourselves, we should love ourselves. And then, you know, when you're going through a heartbreak, I was just like, what is something that we all can relate to? You know, we won't like to admit it, but it's really hard that we can say there's no hard feelings because this, it's very personal. We take it very personally
and I thought you know what this song, I'll make it so that when you're going through the healing process or when you're trying to move on, I want to create a space for everyone to be like, you know, we're going through this together, we're healing together, we're going through this together and we're here for each other. And at the end of the day, we realize there's no hard feelings. She's
super emotionally mature when I was 20. I don't think I even
thought twice about that. But, you know, just a couple of weeks back um at an event that we were at, you were going around asking us to fill in this diary entry. And the, the topic was what was something that hurt you? But you moved on from, am I? Right? Yes. So you asked me to fill that in and to which, you know, I'm sure I'll share it with you.
So, what was the thought behind it? You wanted to gather people's thoughts and feelings and inspiration?
I thought about the song and I was like, what can I do to bring everyone together and like, especially in this community? Right? And I feel like we all have our stories to tell
and I was actually sitting in my room and I was just talking to my friends like, oh, you know, I was scrolling through tiktok, I get all my inspirations from tiktok. As do
we, we get life advice too, by the way,
therapy everything, everything. So I saw like, we are not really strangers, you guys heard of it. And they would always post this really thought, provoking questions. And me and my friends would always love to just read out these questions and talk. And I feel like
it opens up this whole entire like conversation, you know, at three in the morning especially. And so I was like, come, let's, I want to do something like that, like this song, what does this song, you know, provoke? And I was like, yeah, like, I feel like I've gotten hurt by this, but because the title is called No Hard Feeling. So obviously, I have to be, you know, over it and I've accepted it. So I was like, so I started going around and asking my friends like, what is something that hurt you? But you moved on from? And I realized they stopped,
you know, for a while. I was just really thinking about it. And I was like, OK, I feel like this is something I want to ask everyone, especially the people in our community, the creators. And so when I met you again, I was like, oh my God, I have to get her one of her entries as
well, which I mean, therapy is not in session. What was your answer for? So actually, when I was younger, I struggled with a lot of confidence issues and I was always like the quietest kid in class I was always told, like, you know, oh, I'm not, you know, doing
enough, I'm not expressive enough. I'm not showing myself enough in class. And that always made me ironically shrink back even more. You know what I mean? Like, it's like you told that you are not good enough and then you shrink back even more. And I went into like a shell and that's why I always say that people in school, especially like primary secondary school did not know that I existed. Like the teachers probably did not know I existed. And then I think I really carried with me for a long time. That hurt me quite a little bit because I didn't know how
get over it. And it's only time and maturity and life experience that can help you get over really deep rooted stuff. I was gonna say it's so strange. I think it's a single child thing. We both have similar Holy Trinity right here. It's the triangle. We, why do we make it so sad? I was gonna say it's a similar answer to you. I think I would have
with a low self esteem issue. I think I hurt myself with that. And thankfully it got a lot better and I've moved on from it. How funny is it that all of us ended up in this industry somehow? Like
I think because we lack, having to voice out our emotions a lot. So now we choose a craft that lets us express ourselves and now everyone knows your voice. That's
true. Never actually thought much about my voice at all. Last time. I know from Chinese
you were a good player. I was, I was, you don't scare me. Yeah. Alright. So, I mean, havens enough talk for a while. We got to have you sing a few years ago and you chose to go a cappella. Any, any reason why? Because we've heard you sing on Tik Tok and you sound great. But I was hoping like today we have a live band. No, sometimes it's on national radio, right? We're like, ok,
should we prepare like a minus one track or should we? But she was like, I'm going just my voice. We were impressed not going to lie. So any reason
because honestly, I feel like if you wanted to hear the food production could have heard it on any streaming platforms, raise up the stream. So it's
true. So you tease them and you're like, you want a deal you got in a way giving us a scoop here on 97. So, yeah, that's true. OK. Are you ready? Yes. Any time, go take it away.
He got me thinking, he got me thinking
that when.
So um lately I've been missing all the kids and such in love,
you know, you,
you, he used to be up with the other, the money used to be the first thing I am. My used to be the one of five of the hardest
you should be there for you.
Sorry, it should be always on your side. It's a bit one of five of the hardest.
There's no I feel.
And even though even though, even though sometimes I
all I know
I'm still here.
Go with you, go with you, go. There's no high,
no.
Where, where's my golden buzzer? Can I check for you? Ok
by you. That was everyone. Thank you so much for doing that.
And you know what? She went on in a heartbeat? Like no hesitation whatsoever. I know. Yeah. Um Haven, look at such a young age of almost 20 in 77 days. What's there left for you to conquer in the sea? Have you heard a little bit of sadness when he said almost 20. Look, when I was, when I was 18 in Singapore. I don't, I wish I was that good. Hello? I also wish
like more than 10 years to fill us in what's left for you to do now? Oh my
God. There's so much I want to do. I want to travel the world. I want to do a world tour. I feel like no, I really haven't done a lot yet and I feel like there's so many milestones like going to Coachella performing at Coachella. That would be so
cool. Take it from us. I think your foundations are very strong. It's there already now. It's just all up to you. You do what you want with it. Yes, I will, I will make Singapore proud.
Do it for yourself. I do it for yourself. That's the most important thing. But thank you so much for joining us this morning. I know this was early for you, but thank you for joining us. Anything you want to fill in or listen is on, perhaps some of them might be their first time hearing you as well on mainstream radio. So, would you like to tell them anything? Yes.
