In June this year, Wild Rice's play, Faghag*, starring local thespian Pam Oei, sparked a heated debate over the use of the term. For the first time since then, Pam reflects on the uproar and her role as an LGBTQ+ ally. She takes us back to the days of Happy, a gay bar that held Faghag Appreciation Nights and probably the loudest arm wrestling matches. As Countdown Queen of Pink Dot, Pam tells us why repealing 377A is also her fight, and why infighting and misogyny are the last things our community needs.
*Trigger warning: This episode contains words such as "faggot", "fag" and "hag" with the intention of reclaiming these slurs. Listener discretion is advised.
