Thousands of dead fish are washing up on the shores of coastal and riverside towns of Northern New South Wales. 

Flathead, bream, whiting, and schooling prawns have died in a devastating fish kill in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. 

The fish are dying as a result of a lack of oxygen in the water.
