View descriptionShare

Researchers are trying to decipher a "hidden language" in fox urine to better control the pests.

There are an estimated 1.7 million foxes in Australia, responsible for the deaths of millions of livestock and native animals.

A joint venture between Charles Sturt University and the New South Wales Environmental Trust is hoping to use the animals urine to make management more effective.

Rural Reporter Chris McCarthy caught up with research lead Doctor Anke Frank about the study.
