Ongoing dispute at one of Australia's largest sugar mills

View descriptionShare

The peak body for Sugarcane growers is welcoming the latest development in a long running pay dispute between workers and operators at one of Australia's largest sugarmills.

Workers at the Wilmar sugar mills in Queensland have been carrying out industrial action since May..delaying the crush and costing farmers millions dollars a day.

It's hoped the appointment of a fair work commission mediator will lead to a resolution and ease the strain on sugarcane farmers.

Rural Reporter Emily Minney has spoken with CaneGrowers Chairman Owen Menkens, who says the delays are felt across the supply chain.
