Lobby groups are urging the federal government not to loosen any biosecurity measures in a bid to secure an exemption from US tariffs.
American beef hasn't entered Australia since 2003 because of concerns about mad cow disease.
The Federal Government believes it may be able to resume imports without compromising biosecurity.
