The reduced operational hours of a rural New South Wales hospital will be subject to an independent review -- after locals raised the alarm about dwindling access to services. 

The hospital in Wee Waa in the states North-West only operates between eight am and five-thirty pm, with those needing emergency care forced to travel up to 40 kilometers to nearest emergency department.
