The dairy industry is warning consumers they risk sending farmers out of business if they aren't buying branded milk.

Queensland Dairy Farmers Organisation last month launched a petition to get supermarkets to increase the price of milk by 10 cents per litre as a drought levy.

Woolworths and Coles have both announced a levy on their 3-litre milk, with Woolies this month to bring out a Drought Relief Milk.

But it's feared these initiatives will just confuse consumers.
