How can farmers reduce the affects of winter on their cattle?

Farmers are being asked to consider ways to reduce the risk of cooler temperatures and winter conditions to their cattle livestock. 

During cold conditions, the energy requirements of a cow can increase up to 20 percent, with lighter cows being more affected. 

Agriculture Victoria says many farmers may have cows in the lighter condition due to a late autumn and weak start to the season. 

Rural Reporter Emily Minney spoke with Livestock Industry Development Officer Nick Linden about the different ways producers can protect their herds from the elements:
