New figures warn farm input costs are expected to rise higher than inflation in 2026. 

The annual consumer price index currently sits at 3.8% but fertiliser costs are expected to rise 6%,  and fodder is up 15%.

ABARES says farmers are also receiving more for their produce.

Rural Editor Emily Minney caught up with Acting Assistant Secretary Kurt Hockey on what the figures mean.
