The annual consumer price index currently sits at 3.8% but fertiliser costs are expected to rise 6%,  and fodder is up 15%.

ABARES says farmers are also receiving more for their produce.

The 50 million dollar Trade Diversification Network brings together a range of primary industries and government.

Australian Grape and Wine is one of the 40 industry bodies involved.

The dairy industry says any free trade agreement with the European Union needs to protect the local industry. 

The Australian Dairy Industry Council warns a trade deal may result in overseas dairy products flooding the supermarket shelves at the expense of domestic produce.
