Changes to workers hours on PALM scheme walked back

View descriptionShare

The federal government has walked back plans forcing employers to offer some workers a guaranteed 30 hours of work on farms.

The requirement of 30 hours of work a week for PALM workers was due to be rolled out in April.

But the federal government will now require an average of 30 hours over four weeks.

The National Farmers Federation is welcoming the changes.

Rural Editor Emily Minney spoke with Workplace Relations General Manager Michael Pyres about the shift.
