Australia's peak chemical regulator has appointed its new Chief Executive, with Dr Chris Parker appointed to a five year time.

He's been interim Chief Executive of the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicine Authority since the departure of Kareena Arthy.

The organisation is in the midst of a move from Canberra to Armidale in New England in Rural New South Wales, as part of the Federal Government's decentralisation policy.

Rural reporter Eddie Summerfield caught up with Dr Parker about his appointment.
