It’s easy to hop on social media, read a single headline, and complain about what’s going on in your hometown—but what happens when you actually step behind the scenes to see how local decisions are made? This week, Megan is joined by Nixa Chamber of Commerce President Whitney Guison and Nixa Mayor Jarad Giddens for an honest, funny, and eye-opening conversation about community leadership.

Jarad and Whitney pull back the curtain on municipal government, debunking common local myths and explaining why true leadership often means making decisions for the long haul even when you take immediate heat. They break down why local elections matter far more to your daily life than national headlines, the eye-opening reality of a recent election where only 71 people showed up to vote, and how volunteering at events like Sucker Days completely changes a critic's perspective. Plus, they discuss why non-partisan cooperation and celebrating local pride are the ultimate cures for modern tribalism. If you want to stop feeling cynical about local politics and start making an impact right where you live, grab your coffee and tune in!
