View descriptionShare

Thinking about giving fishing a go but not sure where to start?

In this episode, we catch up with Otago Fish & Game Officer Mason Court from Cromwell to chat about the new free beginner fishing classes expanding to Wānaka.

Whether you've never picked up a rod before or want to sharpen your skills, these sessions are designed to help you build confidence on the water. Mason explains what participants can expect, from learning essential knots and identifying local fish species to understanding fishing regulations and good practices.

We also talk about the wider benefits of fishing, including getting outdoors, connecting with nature, spending time with friends and whānau, and improving overall wellbeing.

With places limited and the classes completely free, it's a great opportunity for anyone keen to learn a new skill and make the most of the incredible waterways we have right on our doorstep.

Tune in to find out how to get involved and why fishing could become your next favourite pastime.
