Huge news came from a somewhat unlikely source in a somewhat unusual destination during the week regarding the sale of star WA two-year-old Bustling. We recapped the WA contingent after Goodwood day at the new and improved Adelaide carnival, as Simon Miller farewelled Amelia’s Jewel. Ascot is done and dusted for another season and as we like to do on the podcast, we’re handing out a few awards. Brittany has the latest from Perth Racing CEO James Oldring regarding a few changes to Belmont Park ahead of their return to racing. Listening to the Port Hedland broadcast on Saturday, there was one name that had Brittany questioning the horse naming department. The phrase, “have saddle, will travel” certainly rang true for Natasha Faithfull and Chanel Cooper throughout the week. The Podcast team ascended Optus Stadium for the Ozone Experience accessing some breathtaking views, despite one of the team being extremely apprehensive about heights. The Quokka field is almost complete as three more slots are locked away and the Eastern State runners land in WA. Lochie’s tries to get Alex with an April Fool Joke, he fails but who succeeds? We saw one of the more controversial protests in recent times upheld in Queensland on the weekend, and it brought back some memories. Champion WA hoop Damian Lane runs us through his incredible fitness regime, can he inspire Lochie and Alex? We go through all the latest Quokka news as Super Smink becomes the latest horse the fill a slot.  Dan Morton then joins the team to let us in on what the filly is like behind the scenes, including filling us in on her nickname and what kind of human she’d be.

Wild Belle wins the Rock Magic, is she Quokka bound?  Who else gains a slot? Fab’s Cowboy continued his remarkable run, scoring a record 53rd win and in the process securing retirement at one of horse racing’s great establishments. Alex called the annual Pingrup races on Saturday, and picked up a race book from their 1934 raceday. This week we called for questions for the podcast team, and we got a few “hairy’ ones. And this week we get to known Danny, aka Triple Missile, and Brian Collison from Rapid Equine and Balmoral Park.

It was a monumental night for WA racing last Thursday, as the who’s who of Australian racing descended on Perth for the Australian Racing Hall of Fame and Racehorse of the Year Awards.
