A Kiss, Suspension & A Hunger Strike: Spanish Football's Unfolding Drama

View descriptionShare

A few weeks ago Spain won the FIFA Women's World Cup. But sadly, that's not the story that's been reported around the world in its wake.

During the celebrations, The President of Spanish Football Luis Rubiales kissed player Jennifer Hermoso on the lips. It caused outrage everywhere. Rubiales said it was consensual, Hermoso, however, has said she did not consent.

There have been calls for Rubiales to step down from his role, to which he has refused.

In this episode of The Quicky, we look at the kiss that started a conversation about the treatment of women in Spain, Spanish culture more broadly and we find out how far a federation will go to protect one of its own.
