QFES Commissioner Greg Leach says he'll reach out to support the family of fallen Brisbane firefighter Izzy Nash, when he returns from much-needed leave with his family, after facing backlash for not attending her memorial earlier this week.

He was on leave overseas when the tragedy unfolded.

In a statement released this morning, he says after enduring long periods of separation from his family during the pandemic, he made the difficult decision to stay and watch the memorial via Livestream.
