In a lively and engaging conversation, this episode of the Public Affairs Podcast delves into the importance of the midterm elections and how they can impact our daily lives. Joy Reid, a renowned author, journalist, and commentator, joins the show to discuss the often-overlooked midterms and why they're crucial in shaping our country's future.

The conversation centers around the idea that the midterm elections are where the real power lies, and it's not just about voting for a person, but about voting for the operational system. Joy emphasizes that we need to stop thinking of politicians as our employees and start taking ownership of our power as citizens. She also highlights the significance of the midterms in determining the governor's race, state races, and policies that affect our daily lives, such as gas prices and food prices.

Joy shares her personal experiences and insights on how the midterms can impact our lives, from the war in the Middle East to the collapse of the food inspection system. She stresses the importance of trusting individual leaders who have proven themselves, rather than blindly following systems that are often flawed. The conversation also touches on the power of the ballot and how it can be used to create change.

As the conversation comes to a close, Joy leaves listeners with a powerful message: it's time to take our power back and start caring about the future we want for ourselves and our loved ones. With early voting beginning on October 19th and Election Day on November 3rd, this episode is a timely reminder of the importance of getting involved and making our voices heard.
