Rhonda Turner, a dedicated public servant with almost 30 years of experience in the Houston Police Department, is trading out her badge for power tools. With retirement in mind, Turner focused on the next chapter and purchased the Memorial location of The Rustic Brush, a popular do-it-yourself (DIY), home decor studio franchise.  Her passion for the business led her to acquire the entire company, making her the CEO. Now, Turner is on a mission to empower other women to find their own second acts through entrepreneurship.

Saturday, April 27th at 7 AM at the University of Houston for FREE Health Screenings, Vendors, Live Entertainment, and FREE Family Friendly FUN!  From The African American Male Wellness Agency we have the Executive Director, Pastor Jamail Johnson, Houston Coordinator Donell Cooper, Vendor Coordinator CJ Eaton, and the Honorary Chair, Rushion McDonald to touch on the topics. 

The AAMA Early Childhood Center was created to help parents find a more accessible solution for their family childcare needs. Right now, the AAMA Early Childhood Center is currently enrolling new families!  In many cases, these families qualify for discounted or free childcare services depending on their household circumstances.  To talk about it we have Mary Ann Garcia, community engagement director, and Sean Negron, the development coordinator.

Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church Jail and Prison Ministry is having their 3rd annual Resource Fair for formerly incarcerated men and women. This free resource fair will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9 AM to 1 PM in the church gymnasium. Free resources include expungement, medical testing, job placement, housing services, ID services, counseling, clothing, and free food. We have Rev. Redick, Deacon Endra Cosby, Sister Elexis Warren, and Sister Pam Morton here to talk about the fair. 

Grammy-nominated Kerry Douglas, owner of Black Smoke Music Worldwide, Inc., and his wife, Marzetta Douglas, are here to talk about their new animated series, activity & coloring book called, The Hip-Hop Boobly Show. We also talk about how children all learn differently, the school-to-prison pipeline, and a glimpse into the life and history of Kerry Douglas in the gospel music industry.
