Scott Schuette on managing across divisions — support, procurement, operations

View descriptionShare

We’re so pleased to have back with us again Scott Schuette, a longtime produce retail veteran who has generously been a recurring guest on this podcast. Over the course of more than 35 years in the industry, Scott has served in leadership roles with Fresh Thyme, Sprouts and Bashas. In this episode, Scott tackles the topic of managing across divisions. He discusses how to foster ownership and collaboration across the support team, the procurement team and the store operations team – easier said than done since each group has different roles, responsibilities and priorities. Scott discusses ways to minimize and address conflicts between teams; establish chain of command and communication expectations; foster conversation and teamwork so that wins are shared; and delegate intentionally to maximize talent development and involvement. This discussion is an excellent listen for anyone in management. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did – and as always, thanks for listening!
