Did we mention November is National Career Development Month? We’ve got one more special crossover episode for you from The Produce Talent Podcast, this time featuring Rick Stein, the vice president of fresh foods at FMI, The Food Industry Association. Prior to joining FMI in 2014, Rick spent more than 20 years at Safeway in various leadership roles across marketing, merchandising and operations, and he has overseen all sorts of large-scale special projects in that capacity. With Rick’s extensive experience, we’re excited to get his perspective on a large-scale opportunity for produce, which is bringing people into the grocery retail industry and helping them see the tremendous opportunity of a career in it. In this episode, Rick discusses expectations of the Gen Z workforce; considering pay and benefits and schedules and training in pursuit of better retention; storytelling around what it means to work in the grocery industry; and much more.

This new podcast series is designed to cover all things produce retail: strategy, partnerships, planning, training, leadership, communication, merchandising and beyond.
