Olympic bronze medalist surfer Johanne Defay has led the field in competitive surfing for the last decade. She has won at the highest level, competed around the world, and now, after 18 months away from competition she’s doing something she’s never done: competing as a new mom. Nearly a year after welcoming her daughter, Kimi, into the world Defay returns to competition at the place she won 11 years ago, Huntington Beach. In this PowHERful Podcast, she and AJ McCord chat about motherhood, the World Surf League’s new maternity wildcard, how Defay helped make it happen and her dreams now as she returns to competition with Kimi by her side.
