She's only 19 years old but already she's accomplished something less than a handful of pro surfers have done in their entire careers: win back-to-back Championship Tour events at two of the world's highest performance, and consequence waves, Teahupo'o, Tahiti and Cloudbreak, Fiji. Erin Brooks' real accomplishment though, is the mindset she was able to shift herself into that made it possible. Entering these two events, her back was against the wall to make the WSL's postseason, but a trip to her favorite place in the world, some great advice from a fish, and chasing joy, not results, turned everything around.
