Since 1912 there’s been a men’s Olympic decathlon, the year is 2026 and there is still no women’s Olympic decathlon. That’s a fact that women around the world are fighting to change through the Women’s Decathlon Championships. The event is in its 4th Annual event and will host more athletes, from more countries, than ever before, including Paris 2024 Heptathlete Camryn Newton-Smith. The Australian multi-event specialist takes us inside the sexism that has long been accepted, what it takes in order to become an elite level decathlete and how we can watch and support this movement that she hopes will see her an Olympic decathlete in her home country in just a few years.
