Aiming for attractive financial returns that pass a values-based screening process has become increasingly important to investors.

Portfolio manager Nathan Hughes aims to do just that with Perpetual ESG Australian Share Fund – an Exchange Traded Managed Fund (ETMF) which is traded on the ASX (ASX: GIVE).

GIVE is an actively managed ETF, targeting long-term capital growth and income by investing predominantly in quality Australian shares that meet Perpetual’s ESG and values-based criteria. 

While assessing companies is not a one-size-fits-all comparison, Nathan notes that the team’s objective is transparency so that investors understand how the fund is set up, how it works, and how it applies their screening process.

This year, the fund took its work one step further in highlighting its philanthropic efforts.

“There's a lower base fee and a higher performance fee component, which we think drives good alignment with the end investor,” he says.

“But a proportion of that performance fee will be donated to charity on an annual basis – and that’s something that’s really exciting.

“The dream here is that this product will be a scalable product, generating good returns for investors but also giving quite a bit on an annual basis.”
