In this week's Community Conversation on The Phatt, Brett and Keith were joined by John Richards from Lifeline Loddon Mallee to talk about their new fundraising initiative the Lifeline Dog and Cat of the Year competitions. The Phatt has already jumped in with Rocket representing in the dog category, and Lionel and Ricky in the Cat section.
John talked about why they need to continually fundraise at Lifeline Loddon Mallee to keep their work going and gave us a feel for how busy they are and how they fit within the national framework of Lifeline's.

Spring is around the corner and in a topical Community Conversation, Brett and Keith welcomed Nicola and Chris from Bike Bendigo on to the show for a chat about who Bike Bendigo is and what they do in terms of advocacy for cycling in and across Greater Bendigo.
Bike Bendigo is a not for profit organisation making it easier to go by bike in Bendigo, and their vision: Bendigo is regional Australia's bicycle capital. Their current activities include joining with Bicycle Network in advocating for permanent funding commitments towards cycling infrastructure, facilitating monthly community bike rides, and other activities around supporting better connections across Greater Bendigo for active communities.

Nicola and Chris from Bike Bendigo - 26th August 2026

In the Community Conversation this week, The Phatt had a record number of guests in the studio as they were joined by representatives of the organisations partnering in the Bendigo Creek revitalisation project Yaram Yaram Bayikina. 
Joining them in the studio were Dja Dja Wurrung representatives Simon Coverdale and Corey Ilsley, North Central CMA's Community and Relationships Manager Sonia Robinson and City of Greater Bendigo Climate Change and Environment Manager Michelle Wyatt, and to add to the challenge they had Andrew Saunders from the Dja Dja Wurrung advisory group joining in on the phone.
The project involves a lot of coordination and collaboration across all three organisations and it was fantastic to hear about the project and what it will do for an important part of the Bendigo natural environment.

The Yaram Yaram Bayikina (Bendigo Creek Revitalisation) Project - 12th August 2026

As part of the ongoing conversations with Councillors from the City of Greater Bendigo, Brett and Keith sat down for a chat with Cr. Shivali Chatley - covering the difficult times faced after the recent tragic loss of Cr. Nicholas, the challenges of being a councillor and a small business owner, some recent decisions by council, and her experiences as an overseas arrival, and how she has been accepted into the local community.
