NC Lt. Gov. defends voter ID at Congressional hearing: 'DC doesn't know better than people of NC'
Two North Carolina political figures featured prominently in a recent Congressional hearing on voter suppression and election integrity. Progressive activist and founder of the "Moral Monday" movement in NC, Rev. William Barber, alleged racism as the driving force behind Republican election-related legislation. North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, who is Black, defended voter ID, and said called it insulting for Democrats to assume Blacks cannot get a free state-issued ID.
