Almost half of Republican voters say they're not confident their vote will be counted, according to a new poll from WRAL.

Forty-four percent of likely Republican voters have little to no confidence that their vote in the Nov. 8 election will be counted accurately, a WRAL News Poll found. Meanwhile, Democrats and independents overwhelmingly have at least some confidence their votes will be properly recorded.

The poll, conducted in partnership with SurveyUSA from Wednesday through Sunday and released Monday, surveyed 677 likely North Carolina voters. It reported a credibility interval of 4.4 percentage points. A credibility interval is similar to a margin of error but takes into account more factors and is considered by some pollsters to be a more accurate measurement of statistical certainty.

WRAL attributes this lack of faith in elections to former President Donald Trump's accusations that the 2020 election was "rigged" to rob him of his rightful victory. The TV station never mentions the law changes Democrats enacted in 2020 to unwind election integrity measures or the years of false claims from Democrats and media that the 2000, 2004, and 2016 elections were all stolen from them.
