He's the best in the business.
So we got everybody in full effect on this TV theme song Thursday, and uh Rob g jump in and set up our first story, which is really about uh Andy Weid of course, who's trying to win yet another Super Bowl as a coach. And a lot of people executives or whatever, they have higher respect for Andy Weed than they do apparently like Bill Belichick.
That's right.
The Athletic they did their weekly playoff.
Preview or they poll eight coaches and anonymous executives to get their thoughts on the upcoming slate of playoff games. Unsurprisingly, the picks for the Chiefs Texas rates to zero. Everyone's picking the Chiefs. They're going to be back in the AFC Championship Game, the Arrowhead Invitational as some people call it in television.
Well one great if they lose. One of the reasons would.
So.
One of the reasons why an anonymous executive game for why he's picking the Chiefs easily this weekend is because the Chiefs.
Are quote headed towards an inevitable three.
Peat, and the reason being is that they're led by quote the best coach in NFL history, Andy Reid.
I think, as usual, people get caught up the prisoner of the moment and there's a twofold here. I do understand, and I've said this before, Calvin, you downplay it, but the cheating with New England is part of the reason people don't give them all the credit.
That they deserve.
There's a segment of people, how can you even argue with Bill Belichick who's won six Super Bowls as a coach, two with the Giants as the defensive coordinator. And guess what they won those two super Bowls with two different quarterbacks and their defense was incredible, right, so you got to get some credit, But people still will look elsewhere when it comes to Andy Reid just call him like the greatest coach ever. I just think like there's more to it. It's too surfacey. Andy Reid didn't win in Philadelphia. People actually thought that he was a choke artist early on in his career because he went to four straight NFC championship game. Finally got to a championship. They lost, right, but they got there. And then even on a couple of the Super Bowls, they got some help in those Super Bowls as well. They were down what were they down at least ten in both of those to the biggest.
Choker in Super Bowl history? Right?
Who is Shanahan with the forty nine ers, who has coughed up three of the biggest Super Bowl losses in NFL history? And two of Andy Reid's wins came against Shanahan.
So I don't know.
I mean, obviously, if he does something nobody else's will do, then you could make a better case for him. I think this has a lot to do with Bill Belichick more than anything, a slight of him because of the cheating remember, Bill Belichick was caught with the spygate, was fine the largest fine for any coach in NFL. That's not debatable. Those are facts, not feelings. And I think there are people who look at the Patriots and wonder if everything was on the up and up. So I think that's why Andy Reid gets the love that he's gotten.
Well, I don't think it's all the love is like as if hey, we pulled one hundred people in ninety five percent said Andy Reid. I think it's just a small percentage that would say that he is. You brought up good points that maybe there is some slight issues with Bill Belichick, but more than often, I think most people would say it's Bill Belichick. But and this is like a mega stallion CARDI b size. But But where you can make the case is if you look at it from a different angle than just simply the one dominance that Bill Belichick had with the Patriots. He stayed with the Patriots, dominated with the Patriots. We don't talk about what he did with Cleveland. We kind of focus on the Patriots run with he and Tom Brady. I think the difference is if you want to make the case for Andy Reid. Well, shoot, you bring up he didn't win as Super Bowl. Some could bring up, but look what he did there though. He gets to all those NFC championship games, he gets to the super Bowl, doesn't win it, but gets to the Super Bowl. He has Donovan McNabb as a Pro Bowl quarterback. Eventually we get Michael Vick. Michael Vick becomes a comeback Player of the Year, and he looks like, wow, Michael Vick looked like this every year. He might be in the Hall of Fame, one of the better quarterbacks ever again under Andy Reid. Then he goes to Kansas City and has dominated there his entire tenure. And if you look at what he's been able to do over that, he is one hundred and twelve and thirty six in the regular season there in the nine years that he was making the postseason. You look at eleven, I'm sorry, of the thirteen years. Eleven of the thirteen years he makes a playoff appearance. Obviously three super Bowl titles. So he's having a first half of Bill belichick tenure with the Chiefs. But he made Andy Reid Alex All of a sudden, we forgot that Alex Smith was a quarterback he gets under Andy Reid, best football of his career. Patrick Mahomes third round pick. We don't know, we'll see. Maybe he's good, maybe he's not. I don't know. Maybe he's just one of those guys who was a system of the college in it Bam, Andy Reid, Patrick Gomes great combination. So I think the argument for him is that everywhere he's gone, they've been very good. They've gotten to a super Bowl, won a bunch of super Bowls in Kansas City, has a chance to win another one. And he made everyone around him better. Whereas you could say with Bill Belichick, Okay, was it you? Was it Tom? Maybe it was a combination of the two. So do I give you full greatness? And when I didn't see you do it alone? And I think that would be the case. I believe Bill Belichick is the greatest coach of all time. But the case for Andy Reid is that he's been able to do it a Lebron way. Well, Lebron will never beat Michael Jordan because Michael Jordan has six straight with the Bulls, right, that was the system, That's what they did. They did that. He Phil Jackson Pippin, but Lebron can say, Hey, if you're trying to make a case, I wanted Cleveland, I wanted the Lakers, I want a couple of Miami everywhere I go. I've won. That just shows that I'm you can say the better player that anywhere I go, any stop, we're going to win a championship. So I liken the two to that.
Here's here's the flaw with your argument for Andy Reid is you can't look at it that way without look at looking at it that until he got Patrick Mahomes, did he actually get over the hump and start to win. So he couldn't win with anybody else despite their success. And then if you're gonna look at and say.
You got to finish though, you're saying win the title because he won.
No, no, no, it's about winning the title. He couldn't win the title. You don't go to four straight NFC championship games. And and if that was the end of his career, just say that you went to four straight and you went to the Super Bowl, would you consider him the greatest coach ever?
No?
Absolutely, Okay, it's about winning. And so here's my other poor point is that you're giving Andy Weid credit for the offense. Okay, right, saying that that Alex Smith was good and and Donovan Okay, so Bill Belichick has to get all that. You could talk about Tom Brady and the quarterback all you want. When their defense was top five, they won super Bowls when it wasn't. They didn't win Super Bowl the game I'm saying, but that's not only that. He also went with the New York Football Giants with two different quarterbacks when he was a defensive coordinator. So he does have something outside of.
The couple of years in Cleveland when he got he met a team, but here when he led a team without Tom Brady. Previously, pre Tom Brady wasn't doing nothing in Cleveland. Post Tom Brady didn't do it.
No, no, no, But but you can't take no.
But you can't take away the top five defenses that helped.
Because that's because just because.
But when you say that with Brady, he didn't win when they beat the same the l A Rams who averaged thirty five points a game and got three points in the Super Bowl and Tom Brady had an interception and a fumble and no touchdown.
What did you say he would win without Tom Brady.
And the conversation. If it wasn't he wouldn't be in the conversation if he wasn't a great coach. My point, well, what I'm saying is that he only wins because of Tom Brady. I just gave you one example where he did win, but without Tom Brady. You that was a technical but you actually didn't. Tom Brady was on the team's best performance.
He didn't play well. That's not the reason.
I don't disagree tom Brady was on the team.
Tom Brady, but credit to when a team averages thirty five. I got saying that you just talk about Aaron Glenn and oh, look.
With a job that he did tom Brady, look at it.
But he didn't play well.
He didn't have the argument could be Rady. He doesn't even make it to the super Bowl without him.
No, but when you get the greatest defense offenses ever, you gotta give them maybe make it to the when they when they beat and came back against Atlanta, they shut them down in the second half.
That was bunch of points. Yeah, but you can't.
If they give up one one touchdown, they lose no matter what you score.
The defense is.
A big part of it that boot ball.
The argument could be Andy Reid had a bunch of success with Philadelphia year in year.
Now, he had a he choked, he was known as a cheat.
Was he went to the NFC Championships, he went to a super Bowl, and all we know is post Brady and pre Brady, Bill Belichick ain't do nothing. That's a fair point, and it's that's just a fair point if you're trying to say that Andy Reid, especially if he wins the three peat. That's kind of the beginning of this conversation. If he wins the three peat, which will be four titles, you couldn't.
No.
The whole point is we're saying, then, what would.
You say about Andy Reid if they don't win this year, that he still comes still the greatest coach ever you with the still coaching?
Okay, he still got he can mess around with three more? Is it coach?
Or he could go the next four years without winning. That could happen too. Uh.
Is it fair to say Andy Reid is the greatest coach of all time? Real Easy eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. We'll continue that conversation next with you. It is the odd couple on a TV theme song Thursday, Rob Parker, kelvin Washington, right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.

Rob and I talking about there are some NFL execs and coaches who think Andy Reid could potentially or some say is the greatest coach of all time. Bill Belichick obvious, who was sitting there and saying, hold on, what about your boy? Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox and we got.
Tim and Tacoma, Washington. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Tim?
What's up?
Hey?
You going doing great?
Hey?
I just I just want to say that.
You know, sometimes we included we get you know, we get we is the wrong critario for measuring greatness. I don't think that anybody has ever made an allegation against, say, read about shooting. I don't think anybody's made an allegation against Patrick Mahomes for he's playing balls and and all the other horseship that's apart me all this other stuff.
That all right? Thanks Tim, All right, appreciate James into it.
James and Virginia here in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up?
Oh, thank you for taking my call gentlemen, Happy Thursday. That's what couple. Oh geez man, salute the commanders appreciate it. I'll tell you what Bill Belichick is certainly the besketball time. You got six super Bowl rings they went to I think what was it, nine total super Bowls without a doubt. But to say that Andy Reid isn't at least in that conversation and will have the ability to move past him, it is aci nine man, because the bottom line is, you got a hundred wins with two franchises. He went to four straight NFC championships with the Eagles the Super Bowl. If they win this weekend, that's sixth straight AFC championships with the Chiefs going for the fourth title. Three p't at that which no one has ever betten.
Well, if he gets a three P, then' there's a conversation.
If they lose, then don't I don't know if it's as close Andy weied not a young guy. How many more years I'm saying if they lose this year, if they win the Super Bowl, of course he's accomplished something nobody was able to do.
That's obvious.
All right, Well, there you have it right there again, Andy Reid's got to get shot if he can mess around and make something happen. All right, we got godre Ishmann coming up in just a moment. Get to talk some football with him. Looking forward to that obviously, talk about some of these big matchups happening over the weekend. But right now it is what's trending with Manci well Anjos.

It is your boys, Rob Parker, kelvin Washington, Yon couple on Fox Sports Radio. Our guest now is kadre Ishmael, Super Bowl champion, co host of the Purple pre and postgame show on w jay ZTV Baltimore, and of course Super Bowl champ as well. And Rob. You saw him as a high school track star, backs.
Right back in Wilkesbury. Unbelievable, Nis a grown man.
What's up?
What's up?
Man? Tellers sellers. It's so crazy because because of all the track exploits and all the things. This past summer, my brother and I were inducted into the Lazourne County Hall of Fame, which then I guess becomes a situation where you could be nominated for the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
That's right, that's awesome, that's awesome.
Congratulations.
Well, when I was a high school sports writer there, you guys were kicking everybody's butt anyway, every day.
It was ridiculous. It was I'm telling you.
What, Hey, we want to get into obviously some of the big action happening this weekend. Before we go really into the games, let's just talk about the season Lamar Jackson has had. You could maybe even say the run that Lamar Jackson has had over the last three years, I mean could possibly be looks like it will be three MVPs in a row. Did you see this coming when he first came in the league, And if you didn't, just talk about the growth of Lamar and where he has become. Arguably I call him rob. I believe it is the same with me. Best player in the NFL.
Yeah, I think the big thing is not everyone saw it coming, per se. But you also got to give Ozzie Newsome credit for seeing it coming and recognizing that he's a quarterback, recognizing that he's a generational player, So shout out to Ozzie in his last draft and really just it was remarkable. But with that said, you're also looking at Lamar each and every year taking it upon himself to grow into the quarterback that he's become. As much as we look at some of his earlier exploits and his own words, he's only gotten better. The game has slowed down for him. And so that is where I see Lamar today. It's one thing to get into the league and you have your talent and you're really good at what you do, but everybody's going to pick up on that. They're going to make adjustments. It's the generational talented players that adapt and because of that adaptation, you never really can get a beat on the guy, and therefore they're always dominating. And so this year is yet another find that Lamar has elevated his game. He's in his second year in Todd Monkins offense. He has given him more control at the line of scrimmage, and Lamar has not disappointed whatsoever. What forty plus touchdowns, only four interceptions. You could look at those interceptions and be like, man, that wasn't even his fault.
Three of them hit off receivers for sure, right, rightbut absolutely well.
I think the bigger picture is Lamar's maturation process has just become what it is, which is a historic run.
I'll say this. I mean we argued on this show about it. I always thought that he was still the MVP. I wasn't buying into the narrative that was being pushed. Not that Josh Allen had a bad year or anything, but the numbers just didn't stack up. And we saw the All Pro voting, which usually is a precursor to the MVP. It'd be hard for me to believe that people voted for him for All Pro won't vote for him for MVP. So it looks like he has another one. Did you ever doubt it at any point because he was I know they had lost some games, but he played really well. If the kicker made a couple of field goals, they might win two or three games. Or if the guy had a size eleven shoe instead of a fourteen against the Chiefs, you might have won that game as well.
Yeah. No, no, you're absolutely right. I mean you can even add in if some of the defensive guys could have, you know, just simply caught the ball. You know, it would change the entire complexion. I mean literally had the game against Cleveland in hand and you had three legit dropped Javis Winston interceptions and you wind up losing a game. So Lamar, Yeah, from start to finish of the season, even though some of those games were rocky games, you couldn't say it was due to the poor performance of Lamarr. It was more in line of, yes, kicker as well as a defense.
Yeah. And that's what makes him so special to me is just the growth. I mean he came into everybody questioned his passing and he wasn't the best at it, and he just continued to get better. So let's go to this game actually where this is really you know, you could almost close your eyes and say, man, this he has a super Bowl feel to it. We're going up against the Bills. We know that he's two and one against Josh, but Josh got him in the playoffs a couple of years a few years back. What do you expect too, high octane offenses to high octane, multifaceted quarterbacks. What are you expected in this one? And earlier in the season. We know that Lamar beat and the Ravens beat the Bills big time.
Yeah, they did, and I think again you're going to see a slug fest. I think Disney want to be one of those games where one of the Bills defenders are going to just say, you know what, we're going to have to set the tone early and they're going to try to be incredibly physical and just make one of those big splash, blow up Titan tackles to get Bill Mafia to just be like yo, not today, Ravens. And I think for the Ravens offense, they have to say to themselves, whether it be Lamar, whether it be Derrick Henry, but the offensive line, you have to draw the line in the stand that we're going into the Lions then and you just straight up hit them in the mouth, like just right away, don't show don't flinch one time, don't show any signs of weakness. Again, this Ravens ball club historically has gone into the quote unquote Lions then at different points in times. Heck, I can even go back to two thousand when the Titans were at their zenus and we had to go down to at that time what Adelphia Coliseum they called it. You couldn't even hear. I think it's going to be the same intensity times ten with Bills Mafia. But I believe that if the Ravens can withstand that first wave of inner from the Bill's defense, I think that they're built to wear down that Bills defense. It likes to play a lot of nickel. It's a matchup that works in favor for the Ravens. I think it can come to fruition that the Ravens can get a win.
And I remember the one when I remember on the road was the Patriots one with Ray Rice when they ran all over the Patriots for almost three hundred rushing yards or I think he had two hundred plus or whatever. It's incredible. But let's go here. Probably should have asked you this first, Zay Flowers, what's the deal? It doesn't sound like he's playing. He missed the practice again, and what kind of a blow is that not to have him? Even though you know they they've been rolling offensively, which is pretty incredible when you think about it. The last five games average margin of victory twenty one point two points. That's what they've been beating people by, the average.
That's beating think.
I think the big picture is with they, you know, He definitely gives you so much with you know, once again the ball in his hand. He has that extreme quickness and that ability to make big plays. But I don't think that they're void of other players making big plays. There have been times in the year where, yes, you talk about that margin of victory, there have been times where you know they have had a relatively quiet game, yet the team, the offense as a whole, still did their things. And so I think that's something that you take into account. Absolutely going to mis Veay Flowers, but absolutely you're not going to sit back and think that you know they're going to be a pushover by any stretch.
And here, let me just jump in one more time.
Here on last year that AFC Championship game against the Chiefs where the defense shut the Chiefs out in the second half, Zay Flowers had a big fumble at the one I mean devastating, and uh, they weren't blown out of that game. And remember they only did running backs ran the ball only four times, which is just ridiculous. I don't know what game plan that was a year ago. But you have Derek Kennedy, Now I just pick your poison. What are you going to do with Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson.
Again, you can't even go back to the Steelers matchup in the wildcard round. There was the beautiful touchdown run that filed the deal with Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson. Literally because of the way that mesh point works, you didn't know who had the ball. Lamar just did a fantastic job. Middle linebacker, the safety as well as the corner and the outside end. Those four guys were out of the play. As Derek runs up the field, you have beautiful blocking by Linderbaum, by Bi Leiley, Mark Andrews, Bonnie Stanley shutting off the backside, and now it is just hey, Derrick Henry being untouched for the first what five six yards? And anyone who's worked there waiting for that follows football knows once there Henry gets going, he becomes that juggernaut. King Henry is a tough guy to bring.
Down in less than about forty five seconds. If they were to win this game, and let's assume they go for they being the Ravens, they end up facing the Chiefs. Do you believe this is the year they can get through and get to the Super Bowl or the Texans.
I'm sorry, no, no, I agree. I think if it's the Texans, it'll be great because you're back at the vault. If it is in fact going to be at Kansadity, so be it. I mean, that's just providence. I think both the two thousand and twenty twelve teams, they've had to go on the road, they've had to face the best. They've had to face some great quarterbacks. That's okay. I think this team can do that too and secure their own legacy as world champions.
All right, there is kondre Ishman man, what's you all.
The past day? Thank you man. We appreciate you always, brother, thank you.
Yep, no doubt. He and his brother man some burners right there. You've got to see it, all right. Shekel City on the way. I thought the Suns, oh wait a minute, donty down by twelve, making eleven, they would cover if the game was over, right now, got eleven and a half. They're down by eleven. I took them because the Sun's played last night. So I just had the Wizards, figuring that they will lose, but not by more than twelve. And after Portland trail Blazers plus six and a half taking on the Clippers. Then, wasn't there at debacle last night? It was ridiculous as poorly as they played, right, Yeah, I mean, so come on, Portland can't play that bad again. I mean, they'll lose, can't do it. They'll lose at home. But plus six and a half, I'll take that. Remember Portland plus six and a half, the Wizards plus eleven and a half, and the Thunder minus one and a half. And remember, Kelvin, I'm not telling you who the bet on. I'm telling you who I bet on. That's right, all right.
I have a dream that Portland and Washington and a couple other teams Charlotte get the acts together.
My gosh, terriboy, it's called the NBA.
Hey, we lost a true legend in the game of baseball. Bob Uker, the long time Milwaukee Brewers broadcaster passed away at the age of ninety, was nicknamed Mister Baseball. Didn't have a great playing career at kelvin six years by the like two hundred or something in his career, nothing but he will a tremendous broadcaster and an ambassador for baseball. A couple of things you might people listening might know him for the movie Major League. They remember that just a bit outside was one of the famous quotes on the do we have it here we go.
Chip of the sixth man, rookie sensation, Ricky Vaughn on the pitch nowhere you.
Can close the book on killder.
Oh, thank god Bonn a juvenile delinquent in the off season and his major league debut. Vaughn into the windup in his first offering, Josh, the bit outside and it.
Wasn't close, as you remember, we heard it hit the ball. It was not close. Uh. And then the other thing. And here's two things that are very interesting too.
You know.
He appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, which was an NBC staple for thirty plus years. Over one hundred times. Johnny Carson loved him over one hundred. Now it's a guy from Milwaukee, you know what I mean. And that's how it became popular nationally. He also had six Miller Lite national TV commercials where he's sitting up close at the ball game and is ushered out of his seat and he always said, oh, I must be in the front row, and then of course he's sitting in the bleachers by hisself. And the other one is he was on Mister Belvidere.
Is that the TV show?
So he had a fantastic career and fantastic life.
He's always intriguing to me because here is it was Vince Scully, God bless it dead, and then Ernie Harwell and Detroit as you know, and they while Vin Vince Scully did a bunch of other games and other sports and from golf to football to this and the other, like you, er Bob, you could did a bunch of rent like in movies. And he wasn't like just like simply doing that. He got to be a character in the movies. And he's on the Tonight Show. And I remember him growing up on those Midder Like commercials saying about but another thing too, By the way, Hey he got a home run on Sandy Kochex. I would tell people you talking about an icebreaker for baseball fans, That'd be the first thing I leave with. You went on sand yea and the best picture of all time. A lot of people say Sandy Kovic, Yeah, I went home. I went yard on him. Anyway, what y'all doing?
But you know what I want to say, this is baseball announcers are the soundtrack to a lot.
Of people's lives. It's in the background.
You know that you just mentioned in every city Ernie Harwell on the radio. When I first came to LA my first game and I was covering the Reds and I came to the game, I was stunned how many people brought.
Radios to the ballpark.
Yeah, because they were at the game, but they wanted to hear Ernie. I mean, Vince Gulling. You know, like that's how important. Like the biggest jobs are not the TV job, the for the baseball announcers, you know that, it's the radio jobs.
Still to this day, the radio jobs are the.
Biggest jobs and where people connect because those guys do every single game.
And rest in peace, to bob your gay. He got ninety out of him. You know, he got ninety years and I tell you, I tell ninety in a variety of things in his career like that. That's awesome, Jerry Jones and Dion Oh boy, there's more. We'll tell you. Fox Sports Radio,
