But let's talk about Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson and the performance he put on.
Rob G.
First give us a little breakdown last yesterday for people who were watching that thirty one to two debacle, and then a story about c. J. Strouds, Well, you're gonna get to that some apparently courting to Rob G. You and I both unfortunately think a like on that.
Apparently kdeb also dislikes black quarterbacks.
Cool.
Now, now you see that's gonna be slowly to happen. That's funny.
I get a black partner for the radio show and now he doesn't like.
Got me there. Now I'm all out, Well, but I still got Patrick Mahones. No, no, I said black quarters. You have to take the bait. I threw it out there. You took the bait. Rob No, but go ahead, yeah, Lamar, Lamar, listen, man, go ahead back. These numbers are crazy.
Mar Jackson things.
You know what's funny is when you say he had two hundred and fifty five total yards and three total touchdowns.
You're like, Oh, that's Lamar, that's Lamarn.
He also included a incredible forty eight yard touchdown run, which was his fastest time run of the season, and he said he was just jogging.
That's how. That's how.
When next did y'all, I said, man, that was about sixty percent him. Yep, he had another gear to get you with that run. So his numbers were finding again. He meant it was a blowout.
He could have probably had four hundred and six touchdowns if they needed it because.
He didn't play.
But he didn't play in the four quarter and he only attempted to fifteen passes. So the headline of this game was in his effort, including that long touchdown run. He is now the all time leading rusher by a quarterback in NFL history, passing up Michael Vick. Here's the best part. He did it in forty fewer games than Michael Vick did it, and.
He's got a long career ahead ten years ago. Right, here's the best part. He's gonna rob.
He's gonna mess around and get into the NFL Hall of Fame as a quarterback and a running back. Like if you took his rushing stats, by the end of his career, that person, if that was a separate person, could technically almost be in the Hall of Fame in and of itself. You know, ten thousand is like usually the benchmark he's gonna pass that, He's gonna be right there. And so because of all that, we know, this is what we care about.
Spinning forward, Lamar Mitchell and our friends at ben MGM published their latest NFL MVP odds. Oh snap, and don't look now, but Lamar Jackson has closed the gap considerably. Last Monday, Okay, Josh Allen was minus nine hundred, Lamar was plus five point fifty. As of today, Thursday, December twenty sixth Josh Allen minus two fifty a minute Jackson plus one sixty.
Is that unbelievable? It is so.
Rob Parker is Lamar Jackson the NFL MVP.
And you know, Rob g and Kelvin I've been on this bandwagon for a long time. I never gave him when you said, yeah, it's all done and it's it's it's uh, it's easy one you like, right, what as Trump?
He's your black. We'll stop it. Oh God, leave black, rob g. This ain't nude though, right?
You remember even back when Lamar first came on the scene and one guy and I'm talking about just quarterback.
I just like style of play. I'm consistent.
I feel about him, Okay, but I think that his case is real and that he's actually in the lead for MVP, and I think people flirted with the idea. A couple of weeks ago we watched Josh Allen. But here's here's the argument for Lamar. Okay, first of all, they started out owing two teams that start owing to ninety one percent of those teams that start owing to do not not make the playoffs.
Right.
Not only they gonna make the playoffs, they're gonna win the division. Think about that, an oh, and to start, they're going to win the division and the head to head matchup. He beat Josh Allen easily. Okay, talk about the record all you want. Uh, the total record is not that far apart that you say, wow, it's unbelievable.
Where the Bills are compared to the Ravens.
The Ravens are actually impressive in that they're eleven and five. Right, means they want eleven of their last fourteen, Right. I mean, that's a pretty impressive run. Listen, considering that they were going too they have been.
You and I both agree they were the team that you said who's going to You're not worried about the ratings. Neither one of us were worried about them. Neither one of us were worried about Lamar Jackson, and I stand on it. He's the best player in the NFL.
Okay, now here's the here's the cabin.
This is the big stat that I think NFL riters and voters will have.
A hard time. Okay, I want to hear this one.
There have been seven quarterbacks that have had seasons of thirty five plus touchdown passes and six or less interceptions. So in the history of the NFL, in the history of only seven guys have done that thirty nine plus thirty nine plus but six interceptions or less.
Okay, I'm gonna go Brady Peyton, Aaron Rodgers. I don't have to list in front of me, but I'm sure they're in there.
Aaron Rodgers one hundred percent sure he's been there. Okay, yeah, here's the one. The only loser.
So six of them won the MVP, and I say loser lightly, I'm just saying, and did not win, not win the MVP was Patrick Mahomes in twenty twenty, so he had those numbers, thirty five or more touchdowns and less than six interceptions and did not win the MVP. Guess why he didn't win the MVP because Aaron Rodgers had those stats which were even better and beat them in twenty twenty six. So six of the seven have won the MVP, and the one guy who didn't win it was a year that a guy also had those numbers. So essentially, if you do put up those numbers, you are almost automatically the MVP from the standpoint. So Lamar currently has thirty nine touchdown passes and just four interceptions, and he's rushed for eight hundred and fifty two yards and four touchdowns. I just when you look at this and the numbers, and here's the other thing. Quarterback rating, Yeah right now is one twenty one something I can't remember if the last number is one twenty one, It would be the third greatest quarterback rating on a single season, and Aaron Rodgers holds the first two. So it's Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Lamar, and then Peyton Manning. Those are the top four of quarterback waiting in a single season. How are you going to deny this guy?
What all these?
One?
Twenty one point six? Am I right? Is third? Rob g Is that right or not? Yeah? Third? That's there's an incredible resume for an MVP. You're honored. If I may approach the bench, Yes.
Here is Everything you said is great, and everything you said is the reason why I've said Lamar Jackson's the best player. But this ain't the best player award, And because for whatever reasons, we don't know what the MVP stands for. We know the acronym most valuable player, but we don't know how to break it down. In any sport, it'll be Carl Malone and it's Karl Malone, as if Karl Malone.
Was ever better than Jordan, but he'll win it.
It'll be Phoenix Suns Steve Nash, who it was incredible, but he went it over Kobe or Shack as if he was better. So we don't know if it's just hey, you had a great season, or I like the way you're in a great season.
It's about a season and in about it, right, So no, So what I'm saying is it's then it should be Lamar Jackson's easily.
He's the best player to me, I think, to you as well, and to others. That's the thing, though, it's also story lines, and storylines matter when you start getting down the hair on the chinny chin chin and Lamar's stats are superior to Josh's Josh Allen's except someone will say I love the dual threat. Yes, Lamar is a dual threat, but in the red zone, I like Josh Allen Moore when it's eleven rushing touchdown and sixty eight year honor my time back.
Go ahead.
Here is what they're gonna say. Josh Allen is doing more with less. He's lost all his star receivers. He's doing it without Diggs, He's doing it without this person. They're gonna say, he doesn't have any other star players around him. That's what they're gonna say, haven't. Eric Henry is going to hurt Lamar because win last year he did ain't Deck.
Henry last year?
No, okay, I'm glad you said that. And they're also gonna say last year, Lamar Jackson. This is a big one. People are trying to hold against Lamar. It wasn't about stats last year. Wasn't about stats last year because Lamar's stats weren't that great. It was about his record and owning his division and whatnot. Well, that's what they're gonna say, and that's gonna hold against him.
How is he not gonna win the division?
Because no, they're gonna say it's not about stats, meaning Josh Allen stats aren't as superior as Lamar. But do you see what he's doing. He's winning his division. He has a better record, Lamar winning his division. He has a better record.
So who was on head to head? Who has a better record? You're talking about one they played each other.
Nobody's gonna I'm not disagreeing with the fact that you can't he beat them. They're gonna say he's only lost three games. He being Josh Allen. He beat the Lions, arguably the best team in the NFL. He beat the Chiefs, arguably the best team in the NFL. Those things bold and it well for him. And also I keep telling you this make it look easy itis and nol Mar's got a whole bunch of make it look easy itis. To to Rob G's point, yell man, he had two fifty three touches all world. Okay, great, Yeah, that's what he does, and that unfortunately can hinder you.
Nobody races where people do this.
And my last point again, I say you're on or Josh Allen keeps having these heisman moments that voters are gonna go. Did you watch him last week against the Patriots. Yes, he wasn't great. He had a buck fifty touchdown interception. Manh, But I'm talking about his heisman moments. I also remember him jumping through the air like Superman on the lateral pla moch moment last today? Did we see And I keep telling you it's I touch you. But that's so normal for him. People are like, oh, man, that's what Lamar does. Josh is jumping through the snow catching laterals. Josh Allen is running through the entire Chiefs defense to win a game. Josh Allen keeps doing these amazing things. And three touchdown to pass from himself, three touchdowns, three touchdowns. Looke rushing three touchdown passings. Only quarterback to do that is like Otto Grant Luke. So what I'm selling you is he has these moments enough where if it comes down to he got ten less touchdowns, and he has better records, and he didn't lose to the Browns, he didn't lose to the Raiders.
I'm telling you these things are gonna be And he beat the Chiefs.
And he beat the and he also played against the Texans. Rob do you have the stats from that game where he had nine.
Pick another game and that's the game.
Let's let's look at Lamar he was and he played during the time that he played.
The last week's game is a better example last week.
And I told you, but I told you, remember Robey's teeth. Why are you always gonna take away my steam? No, because listen, you always go to the extremes. Remember what if he plays the Patriots and he goes three intercedends And then I said to you, what if he just yeah, And that's what he was.
He wasn't horrible, he wasn't great. I just I just.
Think what you're watching or trying to ignore, is an unbelievable season.
Why I'm telling you how voters no.
Saying you keep saying about that, but go finish brett Ford one.
What are we betting on this? We bet on this? Let's no, I definitely can't bet on that.
I got to see how they play it all if because if he gets the record, let me, if he gets the rushing records, what I'm saying.
How many yards he needs?
Rob g for the where is he now? He was at only sixty eight yards away or something?
He he had eighty seven, So he's a he is a buck like a buck seventy ish. No, Well you're talking about uh, I'm talking about Yeah, I'm saying. I'm saying Lamar can get to one thousand yards though, can he? I'm saying, if Quon gets the rushing record, it's gonna go Josh Allen, Saquon Lamar in a final voting.
So what does.
Saquon need If it's to sixty eight because they didn't play it's to sixty eight, very very possible for him. So you should just bet you bet that. I gotta make sure he gets because that's my point. They're gonna get, They're.
Gonna and then you pay me the bet double when Lamar wins the MVP, you'll be wrong.
Now, I will definitely put something on that. All right, let's do it. Let's do it, all right, Josh Allen is winning the MVP. No, he's not all right?
Uh?
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. It's real simple. We keep talking about it because it keeps changing and they both keep doing amazing things. And Lamar not Josh Joss on Patriots. I'll give you that, man, that was me.

Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickers d e d Eric Dickerson on Twitter.
Give him a follow? What's up man? Happy holiday? How are you? What's you doing doing right?
Oh?
My goodness, gracious hey, real quick, ed. We're just talking about the terrible Thursday night football. Know they won't get rid of it, but my god, it just seems like two weeks ago the Rams and the forty nine ers didn't score a touchdown. Last night six to three, no touchdowns. It just seems like there's a lot of bad games on Thursday night.
Well, you know, man, it's almost too much football. I mean, I just don't feel like they give the guys enough time to rest. I mean, sometimes it works out, but you know, those games. I don't like the Thursday night games. I mean, it's like those Christmas Day games. I don't think. I don't think. I don't think it's fair for the guys that have to play on Christmas Day. I mean, but you know, that's football. You know, if it was lessons to the owners, they play every day.
Yeah they could, and you know what, they would play forty games ed if they could.
If they could get those forty game schedule.
I wouldn't be proud they have double hitters, like the same team, right, if they could, if they could do that, you know, and one day, you know, they could do that kind of stuff. But I've never been the big fans of Thursday night games. I mean I was like, the Monday night, Sunday and Monday night and that's it. And he made maybe a Sunday night game. That's that's that's enough football.
I'm with you.
Yeah, And the Sunday nights have become the Marquee even more than Monday Night.
The last Monday night year, right, exactly exactly.
But in the day, it was Monday night when you played. Remember that Monday Oh yo, that was it.
I mean there wasn't no Sunday night games, you know, late my career they had Sunday night games. But when I first started playing pro football, I mean you and you played on any team? Man, you was like, we got he looked at the schedule. Do we have a Monday night game?
Yeah?
You know right, the only that's the only game on that.
Night, and that's Howard Cosell and the whole crew. I mean, that was the day.
Man. I'm sure.
Oh man, I'll never forgive. I never forgive what I met. How with Cosel. We played the Atlanta Falcons in my rookie year and I always wanted to do one of my games and I have to step on the elevator that He was, wow, it open and said, Eric, city I was going, Eric, I said, I said, great, how let me ask you a question. The hell that you and Craig James fit time up the Lucky Stars? I said, it worked out high. I'm so excited you to do my game I was really excited. I mean that was like that was my rookie year.
Yeah, that's awesome. Man, he's a legend. No, he was a legend. How would go sou without a doubt, Without a doubt, we.
Got to jump into uh Sa Kwon Barkley two hundred and sixty eight yards away from breaking possibly breaking your Russian record.
Well, you know what I loved.
I loved your response when you were asked about that uh La Times asking you said, no, I don't want him to break my record.
I you said, you're not rooting for him to break that record. Break down your your.
Thoughts on Saint Kwon Barkley the possibility of doing so.
Well. I mean, for sure he has a chance because I think he only needs one hundred and thirty something years out of the game. You know, when I broke the record, I won't forget. We played the Allers and I needed two fifteen that day, and you know, defenses were different. I mean they took it personal. You know, I remember, you know I said, you know me and me and David Boston got into a fight in that game. He's like, you ain't making no record on us, And I was like, I said, bitch, I'm gonna break the record, y'all lest today. So I mean, we were going back, and we're going back, and we're going back and forth. You know, the teams took pride in that kind of stuff, you know, not giving guys records. I mean, you know it's different now, but you know, it's a record I'm proud of. I mean, I have a lot of other records, but I think that's the one. I think that people talk about the most of this lasted forty years. But I've always said this by two things. When I when I set that record, someone asked me about breaking and I said, well, if I don't break it again, it was the person I like to break my record. That's if I had If I had a son, I like to see him breaking. I have a son that he's twelve, and he plays. He don't play tackle football. He played flag. He loves it, you know, and so if anybody ever broke that record, I look like, I see my son break. But the safe one breaks the record. Look, I'm not gonna lose, gonna sleep over it, you know, as that's football. And they said, well you got you know, you got eighteen weeks. I say, hey, you know that's still for Oh, they did it in fourteen games. I always say that. I said it was my favorite player. I played the position running back because of him. So he did it fourteen games. I did it fifteen games with the extra game to play. So still, you know, it's hard to get the two dog yards. I mean, it takes a grueling season. It's a lot of hits. But I mean he has a chance at it, for sure. But do I wantim to break it? Hell no, I don't.
Right, I'm not mad at you because I get that you know it's something great and you can hold on to it and you would rather it not happen.
But records are made to be broken.
They always are broken at some point. But I think you do still have to take pride that you held it for a long time. And there's no guarantee he's gonna get it. Now that Jalen Hurts is out, they might just put an extra guy or two in the box and say, uh, we're gonna make a Kenny.
Yeah, he ain't gonna break Kenny.
Pickt's gonna have to beat you know, beat us with throwing the football because you're not running it, especially without Jalen Hurts, so there's a chance that he might not do it.
It is. I mean, look, let me tell you something. In aid the box, I started my whole career because see, I never had a Jailing Hurt. I never had a Joe Montana. You know, that was that was the difference. I mean, I wish I would have had a Lamont Jackson, a guy like that, but I never had that, never had that luxury. That's not I'm not used as an excuse. But you know you're right because now it's with Jalen being out. If I'm a defensive coordinator, I'm that team even though we ain't got none to play for, right, you know, it becomes the pride thing. I mean, but like I said, I don't know, I don't know how these guys are. These guys are so different these days in football. They don't they don't have the pride that we had to play football. I mean, I know he pretty played for because it was we love the sport. We wanted to get paid, but we had pride about it. And so you know, if like the Cowboys and also the Giants, that are the giants now they you're talking about put the jackass Suit on that I ever saw that he hawt Suit. I mean, why would you trade your best player? To me? I thought he's the best player on the team. Even though I always said that he's on a bad team. You'll never see how great he could be because bad football team. Why would you trade him within your conference? I mean dumb?
But they let him go and pick Daniel Jones on all people I.
Know, Daniel Jones. That's just the thing. I'm like they picking, they might pick Daniel Boone.
Hey, Edie, you know, one of the things Rob and I disagreeing a lot, but one of the things we agree on is just been really fun to see the resurgence of the running back and back in the night Man, it.
Was you, it was Earl Camp. They were trying to make the running back in stink.
Yeah, and now say Kwan, Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey obviously are out, but we're seeing under the running back come back. How great is that just to watch as somebody who was one of the.
All time greats.
Man, it's so good to see it because I've always said, look, when you got to be able to run the football, I tell people that you can have a quart I said. I said, that's fine. But I said, defense, if you're gonna throw the football all the time, they gonna they gonna, they're gonna shut that down. I asked. I asked three Hall of Fame guys. It was me. It was Lawnce Taylor, Ricky Jackson, and Bruce Smith. We had a we had a dinner and they were they we were talking about running back. So let me ask you guys a question. I said, how would you like it if they didn't throw any I mean, have any runs? Just all passes. All of them said the same time, like no runs. No, oh man, we loved that, he said. We said, we didn't give them. He said, we didn't give them ten runs. He said, we'd kill them, right and exactly. You've got to be able to run the football. When you look at the Kansas City Chiefs last year when they won and they run for the Super Bowl, when they got hot at the end of the season, what were they doing. They were running running the ball. Yes, run the football. You got to run the football.
Yep.
I'm glad to see it. YEA.
All right, well ed man, we appreciate it. Thank you so much for taking some time with us. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year to you and yours and we'll we'll do it again soon.
Always appreciate it.
You know that, Okay, Bro, I'll take care.

The college football playoffs, people were excited, were they?
Yes?
Because they were like, four isn't enough. There's too many teams, got job, it ain't fair. You only want the blue bloods. What about the mid level people of the schools. What about them? They're undefeated, they're eleven and two. They deserve a shot. No way, nohow, And I think we got proof of that.
Man.
Talk about ugly blowouts and users, right.
Man, there's some snoozers right there. I mean, you would hope that if you now.
This is when you knew it was bad with the way Vegas had most of these games, almost double digit spreads. So you were just tell right off the backse Vegas ain't gonna give away.
No money and make it like, oh no. These two teams were both eleven and two, so they evenly matched. They didn't play the same thirteen opponents.
No, and you're not catching them at the same you know different, You catch them at different points of the season too.
It's not like if you caught somebody early.
They're finding their way through at this point, they know exactly who they are and what they are, So you got it. Were like, all right, this is already not good on paper as far as again Vegas having almost all of them being double digit at least a touch touchdown favorite, in some cases even more than that, some almost getting up to like fourteen to fifteen points. And for the most part they lived up to that billing, if not worse. In some cases we had it was nothing. I mean, they're talking about the Smith. What's the kid in that receiver? Smith about to be? How many insane receivers do they have? Marvin Harrison Junior look ridiculous. Now he out here looking just as as ridiculous. Jeremiah Smith is just i mean one handed catches and just it was just like playing flag football with a bunch of kids in the backyard or something. So yeah, we didn't get what we were hoping for this first round at all.
And Alabama's sitting there, so oh well, we'll see the second round.
No, no, no, we've added this. Alabama's like you could have had your.
Boy, right.
You added this extra because you thought that the others schools were being left out and that they were more deserving. This to me solidifies that they weren't deserving.
And it need that many to get to a national championship.
Exactly, and they're not twelve schools that really have a shot at winning a national championship. And that was my argument about leaving it at four because even in the four two and a half, right sometimes years ago, you remember Michigan was in it, Yeah, and they got blown out.
They got blowed out.
As they said at the barber shop they did, I mean, and I was like, is there really four schools? Because every year seemed like the quarterfinals you kind of just know the two, you know what I mean.
It's like, all right, for the last it had been Georgia the last three or four year, like all right, Georgia clearly, and then it had been Alabama one or had been Clinton sent a couple of times if Ohio State's had some claiming that as well. Yeah, and it's just instead of going from four to six, maybe there's another wild card or another buy or something. Maybe obviously four to eight and doubling we went. We tripled it from four to twelve. And you just can't convince any of us that there were that many teams that warranted it.
On paper. There just wasn't.
So then it becomes all right, so you're just trying to find the minute to get in and get the money. And here we are with the first round. Nobody it wasn't it. Nobody's talking about it. You know, you weren't. People weren't oh man, text you watching the game. It was exact opposite. It was like people saying, oh shit, man, this is bad. This is not what we wanted. This is why.
And then you heard all the people who were against it, and I get it. The financial they don't want to leave any money on the table. The two paces out the tube. You can't go backwards. Now there'll be people who will question if you spend money to go to these games and all that, Like you got to really say was this worth it? Did I spend money to go to this and to watch this tobaccle?
Yeah?
I mean you're looking at some of these scores.
Man, it was just forty two to seventeen or High State destroys Tennessee, And like you mentioned, it was pretty much over at the five six minutes in the game, but really out come, like, all right, that was terrible. Uh you look at some more of these you got notre dame. This score does not warrant the game twenty seven to seventeen. It was really twenty seven to three until a couple of minutes left in the fourth quarter. Right, So if you happen to stumble upon the game, you would have saw the score. No no, no, no, no no no.
No no no.
It was worse than it was worse than that. So it just was it didn't it didn't leave a taste where you're like, I wonder what else could be? Why not sixteen? This was just like, oh yeah, this wasn't needed. You're just letting some teams in, letting them get extra game or two, which we know leads to money, whether it be from those sponsors, whether it be the from literally selling tickets, uh, to the media deals. That's you know, this is this is what we're going through now. Now we got to go through what three four more weeks of this too. I think it's like thee have three more weeks of it.
So but but this is this is where greed comes in and and it's always about more isn't always better? Like people think more is better. Oh yeah, let's well, we already got this. Let's like the like they want to do in college basketball sixty four. This is now they want to go up to seventy something and eighty something.
Let and one teams in Like, what do I mean the Big three can get into March Madness?
Ice Cube is gonna say that one in right.
We're literally running out like they're gonna have to go to Venice and be like, all we need a team. We need a team from Venice, Venice Beach, Come on out, who wants to play?
We talked about this even uh in the NFL, like and in the NBA. Oh the play in the play in where now twenty of the thirty NBA teams are involved in some sort of playoff, So you play a whole regular season to eliminate ten teams?
You know what? I don't like? That doesn't that doesn't make sense to me.
The worst part about the NBA tournament I feel like nobody talks about to me the play in which the playing has been fun. Ken denied, It's there's been some fun moments. But I always feel bad for the seventh seed because oftentime, seventh seed in the West, dude, you're like ten games above one hundred. But because of the system, now I got to be in a play in because you're the seventh seed. Like, dude, I'm not the eighth seed. I'm not last time, and now I have to be forced in a play in. So even though I'm ten twelve games above five.
Hundred, but the only reason they're forced into that because they get the number.
They could add two more teams.
Right on the other at the nine of the ten, right, But I always felt playing for the seventh seventh, eight nine, ten, twelve games over that happened. I mean, you look at the Warriors a few years back and he ended up running against the Lakers and lost. Yeah, he ran up against the Lakers lost, and you're like, dude, I'm a seventh seed. I'm like eight nine, ten games above five hundred because the West is like that. In the East, obviously you could be six, seven, eight, nine below five hundred. But I've always felt bad for that seventh seed in the West. You've got to fight for your life, even though you may have had a really good season.
