That's very nice. There you go, we are off and running. And let's also say that Chris did text us this morning. That was very class.
Seriously, that's what I mean. Man, everybody's been great. Man, Chris has been great. You know, he's been very supportive of this. Folks have been just within the company, even you. The listeners have been excited, like hey man, Some people who don't know me, like, hey, I never heard of you. Haven't had a chance of listening before. Everybody have to know everybody. But here you go.
All right, let's get it started because we got a lot to talk about.
Dude, and Bryce Young all right.
Bryce Young has been benched by the Carolina Panthers and rightfully so because it's just been a horrendous start two and sixteen in his NFL career. Just another poor performance so far in the first two games, no touchdowns, three interceptions. I mean, we could go on and on and on and it's not and the Panthers have been outscored seventy three to thirteen. And it's not just him. They have a poor offensive line. There's other issue choosing about weapons and all kinds of other stuff, but he just hasn't been able to do anything there. And when you get pulled for Andy Dalton, who's not gonna take you anywhere, maybe home dinner or show, you know what I mean, nothing serious, it just tells you that they're so frustrated that they're just saying, just put anybody else in. We got to take the kid out. And I think you can't look at this situation where Bryce Young and act like this is a bump in the road. I think this move right here, this soon in his career officially bus mode.
I mean, that's where I think he is now.
When you say bumping roll, you're saying bumping and road for the team, or you're saying bumping roll for him. Because if you're saying him, then that's when I'll disagree. If you're saying the team, then clearly right, they haven't. They have no identity. And we know one thing. In any league and anything you do, you have to have an identity. And usually you can make sense of something like, let's say this was the equivalent to what the Detroit Pistons might do. Say, hey, look, we ain't gonna make no big moves because you know, if we lose again, there's a Cooper flag on the other side. What the Panthers are doing right now, you don't know what they're doing. They don't have an identity on either side of the ball. And what makes this bad, Rob is not just that Bryce Young is playing bad. It's that to me, the whole entire front is bad. The offensive line is bad, the weapons are bad, the offensive play calls back, the defensive side of the ball is bag. And he's coming into this on a couple of things. Rob, He's coming in now, let's go back. So I got the chance to kind of cover this kid. He's from southern California, went to Modern Day one championships or competing for championships. There goes to Alabama, balls out wins a Heisman, so all of a sudden, it's not as if he can play. But sometimes you go to the wrong environment, and who's done anything in Carolina in the last seven eight years since Okay.
Cam Newton didn't jump on the super Ball, and so who's where.
We're gonna disagree because because I'm not saying it's a perfect situation. But you also can't give this kid a pass and act like because c. J. Stroud was drafted after him and he's lighting up the world, and I get it when he got to Houston with a new coach and no one was expecting any of it.
Would you admit that no one was expecting.
So I can't look at it and just be like, well, it's all Carolina's fault, and then you go, well, except for the time they went to the Super Bowl, well except for the time. The bottom line is, does he look like a good quarterback to you at this point?
Absolutely? Absolutely not. And that's for the.
Issue is he's undersized. He doesn't look like he like a good quarterback, like he's just from the eye test.
Forget about the stats like the eye test.
And number three, the guy drafted after him is balling out so he looks even worse when you add all that together, and that's why he's in this predicament.
Well, that's why.
The only thing I was saying about the speed bump is you and I had I say the odd couple with Robin Kelvin was happening. Three years ago, we'd have been having the same conversation about Sam Darnold, right, he.
Looked pretty good to see.
He wasn't doing anything now, didn't any do anything in Carolina, didn't do anything. It was a backup in forty nine ers and didn't do anything with the Jets, And there's opportunity. Sometimes you get these opportunities with the team that believes you, that has an identity, that has a system. So right now, Bryce Young absolutely deserves this benching without a doubt.
Only I was just, you're just.
Not into the bust thing Yeteah too. So he's twenty three years old, just turned twenty three, like a month ago. He's twenty three years old. So you can't be a bust at twenty three. No, I'd be a bust at twenty one. If you're no good, you can be a buss. And I think his track record as far as high school then college has shown that he's willing to work for it, He's willing need to get better. He's been No coach has ever said anything bad about him. Now, does he have to turn around and all of a sudden be you know, the reincarnation of Joe Montana. No, but I'm saying I'm gonna I'm gonna reserve the bust for now. Benching appsolutely might have to hold a clipboard for the next two three years. Absolutely, but I'm not gonna say he is. He's a bus right now. But I just think it's a disappointment when you look at the Panthers right now as a whole. Usually Rob there's something you can point to, even as a fan, to say, man, we suck right now, but at least our defense blank.
No, I agree the Panthers are a bad organization. They got a lot of issues. But just the eye test is the problem with Bryce Young. There have been tea quarterbacks you know who are on bad team. You look at him and go, no, this guy can play, Okay, he just gotta protect them. And if they do this and add some weapons, this guy can play. So so it just doesn't feel like that. And I think I think he's in a bad spot. And then just the idea of going to Andy Dalton, like that's a dead end. There's nothing there other than let's instead of saying, we're just gonna play this kid and really like see if we can get something out of him. But you saw some of the plays this past Sunday where he's running around and running the wrong way and feeling one of the receivers was visibly upset. He just threw a couple of really bad balls. There's a lot of stuff there to unpack where you can easily say, my god, the Panthers blew it by picking Bryce Young, and that's.
Where and now to get on Bryce Young, because I mean, let me get on Bryce Young. He has not looked great. He hasn't had anything that as of now makes you hang your hat on something and say, all right, oh we tighten up this offensive language.
By the way, is currently last in the league offensive line to run them.
So that's why said there's a lot of factors against some However, to be fair against him, he hasn't done anything to make you say, man, he's gonna look special if this.
So that's why the benching.
Benching occurs with him the other thing that he's also doing rob and you know this is applicable in lights in so many different aspects. You know what else he's doing. He's sending us vertically challenged brothers back. Okay, now, Elijah, don't laugh. Okay, your boy was four eleven in high school. So it's five foot ten and almost ten and a half statue, right, too much? Too much eleven and you will even eleven.
Hold what if I would have been if I would have seen you in high school at four eleven, I would have come up to you and picked you up.
And I would have put I'll tell you how to put you on the locker.
Your boy didn't play, you know, you know how the short dudes, they always the crazy ones. Don't let this baby face fool you. Okay, now you get did you get rouffed up? And I was, first of all, was too cool to get roughed there. Everybody everybody like Dub Everyone up, they like dub Man, what up Dub? You know I was too I was too cool. However, where I'm going with this is your boy kept growing a little bit, right, I got to this whole five ten and a half.
I feel like I'm six five rops.
Oh.
Where I'm going with this is what was the conversation with Bryce Young when he was coming out.
You said it earlier, too small, he's too small.
And usually when you have somebody who can comes out and come out and be an anomaly or at least kind of break the stereotype, then that bolts well for the rest of them. Right, So if he comes out and let's say he bawled last year, this year, now the next guy who's five ten, five eleven, six foot is great that he benefited from Russell Wilson, he benefited from Drew Breeze, right, those guys who were smaller who ended up succeeding. And that's one of the things he's also doing right now is setting anybody up who's six foot and under back because they can say, see, I told you he's too small. Look at the counterpart of CJ. Shroud, big huge, big arm. We already kne what he was doing in Ohio State. So he's also setting that next group of smaller quarterbacks back as well by the way in which he's been playing.
No doubt about it.
And maybe the Panthers should have figured this out when he came in for a visit before they drafted him, and they took him out to launch the McDonald's and they said, did he want a happy meal for it?
Let's have known this. I should have known when this was coming.
Where they take him next to Disneyland and he got on the rise for free because.
He was under a certain height. Is that they did not think they should have known him right there? When then when they offered him a happy men, I don't like the way you look at him. I told him five ten and a half.
Now, all right, don't disrespect me like that, Rob, I don't like the way you're looking. But no, he he honestly put himself in a position where look, bru, sometimes you got to have a seat, right, you just got to have this seat. Now that does the mean it's Indy career, but you got to have this seat. You're not playing well, and everybody in that organization has to find somebody to blame. Right. They're not gonna fire themselves. Coach can't get front of everybody, right GM, we can't just halt, you know, all to the whole defense or in one swoop.
So somebody has to take the blame.
And right now is Bryce young and you hope that he's able to bounce back at some point, but you got to have a seat. It's a seat on the pine for you, bro, Come warming up.

The Way tire buying should be coming up in about twenty eight minutes. The Hall of Famer himself, Rod Woodson joins us, and of course Fox Sports Radio NFL analysts. So our number two here, before we get started on this Cowboys disaster, because that's what it was. They beat Cleveland, everybody thought, oh they're Roland that's got his money. Ceedee lamb. Oh, you guys don't think the Cowboys are any good. Jerry and them didn't do anything in the oll season. Watch, oh look look look, and then the radio and then the Saints came in.
And molly wopped him.
But before we before we get there, my man, I want you to know I got you something special.
Oh here we go. Man, listen, Okay, let me talk to it, let me talk to the people.
I let everybody know it. So for those of you.
Of course who are listening, rob who we always like to make fun of and cheap about, cheap, cheap, this cheap that I tell you what this is. First of all, it's under arms, so you know it's already nice. It doesn't have like a cutoff tag that I can tell you. Went down to the shot the fashion district downtown LA and got it for a three dollars eighty two cent.
Now here's what you don't know about me. I know fashion.
That don't mean that as that I'm as stylished, brother, I mean literally, my wife and I own a brand, and so we start we had to go through I know quality, and we had a store at the Glendell Galleria for a couple of years, so I know all this stuff.
We designed our own stuff.
So this is real quality, real stretch, real breathing, well wicking process, four way stretch.
This is some good stuff.
And then he didn't do he didn't iron it on himself, y'all, the odd couple with Rob and Kelvin.
He stitched it on.
And then on the on the sleeve we got the Fox Sports Radio uh emblem and stitching on here. So this man, let me tell you something, brother. First off, wrap up. I appreciate you, and you know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna rock this too. I'm gonna rock this the rest of the show. This is how qual.
We're gonna get a nice picture.
And yeah, so just no, I got something coming for you a little bit later.
On as well.
It ain't like the old odd couple of stuff. And I got this hat over Chris's name or something. Okay, this is new. You didn't put Calvin see you.
I already got to see there for Chris let's make it Calvin, No, like, I just shooting it right now. For those of you who may be listening, if you be able to see it, you know, be able to see it on Twitter, We'll make sure we get it up there. This is really really nice, brother, I sincerely a little welcoming gift.
And listen. It's starting to cool down in l A a little bit too that in the evening, No doubt about it.
This is nice, brother, real talk. I appreciate. I got something coming for you a little bit later on good. This is really nice. Appreciate. So I hate I got two hours up. I can't make fun of you now. I feel all like man right that day, that day will come, trust me, trust me.
After today he set me up, Mary's he set me up. I'm gonna get it.
I'm thinking, Yeah, I think it's gonna be all nice and it's definitely show what it really is you want to settle.
Wow.
Yeah, I feeling that's a manipulation tactic.
Bat Way, Yeah, I'm seeing that.
Is that in that right now you're manipulating him and then manipulating him so I could run the show.
Is that that is that? What you're being nice right now? So that he can't make fun of you. Ter me up right now.
But no, no, let's get back to you know, we can get back to the sports talk somewhere where I gotta get you in mind.
It got buttered you up in the first hour. We pushed back he did.
That was but honestly, this is really dope, brother, and I appreciate it, greatly appreciate it. I told you, man, you're welcome, is man. You guys are top notch. Man, get we get the funny intro. Shout to Ricky. Did you know put together the funny intro. It's been great, been welcoming. Uh yeah, man, our callers.
Have been there.
We got our regulars called in to welcome you in, which was great.
And yeah, you know, apprehend like, who's it, what's going on? Let me see I feel about this. I already know.
Yeah, but they already know so far it's totally natural. I mean, six years a long time. So here we go. But we're in an hour number two, and let's talk about that Cowboys game. I mean that was a game I actually picked the Saints. I think the spread was like six and a half and I was like the Saints, you know, I thought they could come in there and play close and possibly win. I wasn't expecting to blow out that. It turned into no, no. But listen, first of all, I think there's a there's a there.
Let me start by saying something we did not address the first hour, and I think everybody should be a bit measured. Right, this is week two. Most teams don't play in the preseason. Most teams, guys are just getting acclimated, Guys are just getting some reps in. So the first few weeks really you kind of want to take a break. And this is why a lot of people are still big on the Cincinnati Bengals, are big on some other teams who kind of last few years of as long as they are healthy. As started slowly and progress into the season, and so losing to the Saints would not be that big of a deal. Look, Derek Carr's playing well, the offense is coming back, Alvin Kamar looks great, They're moving the ball very well.
Offensive line looks great.
So you can say, if I would have told you Dallas would either barely beat the Saints or lose, it's how you lose, right, It's that And somebody can't come in here and thanos you forty four nineteen is a butt whoop forty four nineteen would know. Here's the key part two rock no Flukey plays. That's the part right because we see sometimes that a guy hits the back of his helmet, goes in air interceptions return pick six happens once or twice in y'all at the Flukey game. No, they got flat out, absolutely dominated. And that's what makes us alarming if you're a Dallas Cowboys fan because as Newie scrubs who if you missed that party's out in Dallas. He is with NBC there sports broadcaster there. He brought up a great point in that they're only beating up on the teams that are bad or mid they're not beating up on the playoff seams. Right, they got George George Love got a bunch of money because of them.
But that was always the argument about paying Dak, that Dak's record isn't good against the good teams, and he destroys.
And puts up huge numbers.
He had a great year last year, putting up big numbers, but they don't come against the teams you really want.
And now when you couple this, so if you're Jerry Jones.
They had a sixteen game home winning streak during the regular season, so they lose in the playoffs forty eight to thirty two Wildcard, like a shocker. They lose that game, and then you come home after winning in Cleveland, right, and you give up forty four points, I mean forty eight and forty two in your last two home games after you had a sixteen game winning streak.
I think what scary two rob is if you're a Cowboys, if you're on the defensive side of the ball, or a fan of the team is What also makes it disturbing is the fact that the Saints went down in so many different types of drives, like, oh, you want a shorter drive, bet, you want to eighty, here's another eighty, You want a sixty nine drive, you want to you know, they just went I think it was six straight drives scoring, and that's that's that's a merely again because they were able to do it in a multitude of ways against the Cowboys. They ran the ball, They passed the ball four hundred and thirty two yard That is ridiculous. And then if you take away the long pass the city land where he really it was more him right, nice passed.
There was a miscommunication with the two d comes ran each other tackle.
Yeah, you take away that big play. What did the Cowboys do? Nothing? You didn't stop them. It wasn't like it was a shootout, right, They lost thirty six to forty four.
Man, that was a great game.
It was a shootout, something like the Bills in Kansas City some years back, of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Rams a few years back. Like, man, that was a shootout. This was not the case. They just got ran over on both sides. And the big uglies, as they say on neither on either side did not come to play for Dallas. And that's also disappointing. And you can tell Dallas was feeling themselves from week one. Thullas what we do here we come twelve and five again, Baby, this is automatic buck put it in pencil, it in, pin it in matter of fact, go get somebody, go get a big right in twelve and five.
This is what we do. And they forgot. You got to come and play.
And where are you on the Michael Parson, Chris and I had talked about this for a long time about the podcast, Like this guy's a good young player. Put the podcast down? Can you focus in? Just I'm I don't have an issue in the off season or even Draymond Green, I had issues with it having a podcast during the playoffs, you know, where you're supposed to be playing and locked in and not trying to charge up the other team and say all these defamatory stuff on podcasts. Michael Parson I was trying to rename his podcast to turn off as micaeh is.
What I want to call a podcast.
But he's supposed to be this great defensive player and their defense has been dog due, especially the last two home games.
I mean, this is a problem for the Cowboys. It is.
And I'll say this first of all, the two paces out of two, it ain't going back, right. Everybody feels entitled. Now we have millions of people who have podcast I'm talking average everyday folks, the ex sport.
And you know this, how many athletes think.
I know the game, I can have that podcast, right, Oh, I'm funny, I can have a play all right?
Well, good luck.
Everybody thinks they can have a podcast from uh the two ladies who love to talk about doing nails to anything. Everybody has one, so the toothpastes out the two we Ain't going back. Every athlete almost feels as if why don't I have a podcast? Like I didn't know people were tuning into the Trey Young podcast like Who's who? Was like, you know who needs a podcast? Trey Young needs a podcast.
But if I'm a team, I'd be like, dude, but you can't.
But see this means unable to What do you mean I can't you What are you gonna say, like their contraction is gonna say I can't do I can't jump out of a plane, right, I can't.
You can't do this? You can't have a podcast during the season. How's that you can't have a podcast during the season in the off season?
Do whatever you want?
Because you know what that sounds like, that sounds like stick to sports, no.
Sport, just do this, do what I'm paying you to do.
It's about focusing in on the job at hand. I don't want you to do a million things. When you're playing sports is a short a life shelf life. You don't get to play it for forty years unless I'm not disagreeing, you know what I mean? Like, like, it's so can you focus in on these eight or ten years that you're playing professional sports.
I'm paying you a lot of money.
And if you want to get in the podcast business later and you want to do all that, Michael Parsons is you know, all the stuff, but there are no results.
He's the leader of this defense, he's supposed to. They were mentioning him in with large tailor. Well, I mean, I'm not gonna so I'm not gonna sit up here and acting like Micah hasn't.
I'm not busy.
Excuse me, I'm not gonna act like he has not been dominating. For the most part. He can't lead a defense, so he's not there. There's one dude and ten other players on the defense, so he can't do it. All right, I get that, But so he's done his part. But I won't disagree with you on the fact that look, the attention that you're giving to a podcast, because you look, you know what it entails. Right, They can say, oh, it doesn't take away it's my off time. But you gotta talk talk to producers, you gotta talk to guests, you gotta plan, you might all research, you can rile up the little opponent.
Yeah, you can say some other stuff. You can you might even just say too much about you?
Yeah, man, you know, we ain't like the way we got ran over last week, so we're gonna make an emphasis to make to load the box a little bit.
You might say too much about what you're gonna do. I agree with you.
However, I'm living in twenty twenty four, brother and the two past. It ain't going back up in there. People are absolutely feeling like this is what I'm supposed to do, calling their agents.
Can I get me a show? Can hey? Can Fox Sports Radio get me a show? Can I get a podcast? Can I Heeart give me a podcast?
You're not doing anything if you're not if you're not in their minds, Rob. If I'm not attending the White Party, if I don't have a podcast, if I don't have you know cool fashion, if I'm not enjoyed in endorsing some brands, I'm not doing anything. God o the days of you know the Tim Duncans. If you will, I just want to come play, shut up, work, play flop yeah, win and win five championship, shop and shop at ross.
That's right, there's nothing wrong with that. I see the bag over there, Yeah.

There you go, and up as a Lions guy, I get it. You know, all those bad years with the Lions brutal. I mean as a childhood, childhood, it was just trauma. Am I right?
If it weren't for Barry just being Barry, you're right, because I mean, at least you always had that at least right, at least I'm gonna see something magical happen today. The team might lose, but Burial, you know, run for a buck ninety.
Yeah. Other than that, Yeah, it was rough.
And last year people in Detroit when they were blowing out the forty nine ers in the first half, they were making reservations to the Super Bowl.
How many? Because that might mean you look at me. That might have been me.
How many people text you? You know you were on the faulty. I'm going to the super Bowl. The Lion's gone finally in my lifetime. You felt like the Cubs fans when they finally won a World Series after like one hundred and fifty years.
You see me, I see my eye tweaking.
You're getting this my eyes tweet this eleven PTSD right now. You know it's the worst shots to my boy, Dave Russell Man. We're sitting there watching the game. I'm out here in LA and it's a bunch of forty nine Er fans, as you can imagine, because they still I think you've been here long enough. I think it's still forty nine and Raider fans more than even Rams or Chargers fans here. So and I'm like, there's a part of me just like, nah, don't get too highed, don't get too excited, don't get too excited. And then all of a sudden, he looks at me and he gives me a look like, man, we go into the super Bowl, and I was like, dang it, I'm about to get the emotional I think we are at mess around and lost but I want you to get to where you're going because there's a reason why we lost that game. And I think you believe that's part of the reason why the Lions lost Sunday.
Right, law didn't go to the Super Bowl last year was because of Dan Campbell. Yeah, and on Sunday he had a critical error and it was a major blunder that cost his team a chance to put points on the board. Here's the reason why it's such a bad and let me spell it out for you. With eighteen seconds ago and a half, Brown right had a chance to spike the ball to sudd up a field goal. Right, Okay, Members of the field goal team began coming up on the field before that happened.
However, the Lions were penalized.
For too many men on the field, which led to a ten second runoff, which left no time on the clock. Why it wound up being big was because at the end they were in field goal range, but they were down by four.
They wound up losing twenty to.
Sixteen to the Tampa Bay Bucks and the field goal right there. If they got the field goal before the half and then all they would have needed was a field goal and they should have won. I believe the Lions were seven and a half point favorites at home against Tampa Bay, a team they beat last year in the playoffs, and so Dan Campbell said, quote, I asked for improvement from last week.
That was the story, and we did improve and the.
Coach cost them. Their head coach cost them critical error at the end of the half. One hundred percent on me. There's no way to justify this. It's a massive or on my part and no one else's. It's just it was just between hurry up field goal and clocking it and it was one hundred my fault.
And that's a game.
You say, oh, it's early in the season, just a second game of a year. But he's done enough and I get it. Everybody loves when he does the trick plays and fake punts and they get the first down. They did it yesterday as well, and oh that's Dan Campbell. He's doing it again. That magic. There were things last year in that game where you're being outscored, like twenty eight nine in a second, you got to put some points on. You can't, right, you can't have your quarterback march you down the field and you come away with nothing. Time and time again, and of course that's what happened. Had they put up a couple of field goals, it could have been a different game for the Lions. And for all the enthusiasm, all the praise that people give Dan Campbell, I really believe that unless he becomes a better coach this season and understands how to coach these circumstances, situations and be better on stuff like that, those are the ones that kill you. And we saw it yesterday in the game that like again, most of the time, when you're at home, you're a three point favorite. Right just off the way, they were seven and a half point. Faith, that's how much better they thought. The Lions were coming to Detroit, right, Tampa Bay coming to Detroit. And even Todd Bowle said, man, we got a break. They all know, everybody, we got a break. They gave us a break. How in the world did they not get a field goal at the end of the first half.
Well, how much time I got, right, got plenty of time. Somebody gets some organs. I'm about to take you out of church real quick. Let me tell you something. Here's the issue. Dan Campbell started off with us thinking he was gonna be Neanderthal nineteen seventies eighties coach because he's biting off off kneecaps, right. Ah, And you're like, here we go again, because what is everybody like? Now? They want the Sean McVay, smart, you know, savvy, these types of quarterbacks, I mean, coaches is what they want. So like, here we go with this old through school throwback guy. We don't need that. Well, come to find out he's actually much more analytical, much more in tune with you know what the newest new gen stats and what's going on and forward thinking. But the problem is what great coaching does is also being pliable, right and also adjusting. Sometimes we forget. If you look at Bill Belichick, what was it there in the first half of the Brady era.
It was hard nosed defense.
Brady just managed the team special teams out of military and we can win. Then here comes Randy Moss. They're throwing it all over the place. You got Wes Welker.
Fun is that they didn't win win with.
That, right, and they were right that, I mean, David Tyree didn't have stick them on his helmet. Maybe they win, but my point is they altered. They showed how we can do it, Greg Papovich in the NBA, what were the Spurs, right, The Spurs were hard nose being you eight, he won the seventy five. Then all of a sudden it became a spread offense shooting threes. And where I'm going with this is Dan Campbell has to understand it was cute.
It's cute.
You go four at times, you go for two for no rando, random reasons, just okay, I guess we're going for two. You go against the Cowboys, remember last season, had a chance to beat the Cowboys three times in the row. That was another game that he once they had the penalty for the gonna kick the field pape and he didn't do it. And so I think what we should have seen that as a precursor to what may happen, which would happen later with the forty nine ers. So what I would imploring Dan Campbell if he were happening to be listening right now. You never know, maybe he's a fan of Fox Sports Radio. Listen. He's a very good coach, he's a very good motivator, and I think his team buys in. But one of the things you don't want to start to do is lose the morale of the team by continuously making the same mistake. And what he cost them in the forty nine ers game in the NFC Championship game was sometimes rob You gotta take the pressure off your players, right. You got to look at your players and say, you know what, I remember Saint Brown dropping passes, Rentals dropping passes, Gibbs fumble. Let me take points. Hey, guys, it's a big game. He's your calm, your nerves. We're gonna take these points. We're gonna finally, you know, get back in this game. And short of forty nine ers were good. But when you keep gambling and we don't make it go for it, we don't get the fourth conversion, we don't go for the field goal, guys start getting nervous, and that's when you start to see guys dropping the ball all over the place. And so what he has to understand is there's a time and a place for everything, and there's a time when you have to just simply get the points. It doesn't mean you're not a gambler, it doesn't mean you're not some innovation innovating coach. It just means, right now, we need three and he has to find that balance of being a risk taker, being innovative, having some kahunas. But right now the math a matthin. We need points. That's what happened with Brandon Staley. He thought he was playing Madden going forward too many times in your own end. You have a defense, play the field, position game, kick the ball, punt the ball, stop going for it. And what did that one up doing for him? He wound up fired, getting fired.
Yeah, because all I'm saying is that you can't keep doing that.
There comes a time in a moment. You know what.
I'm not a big Sean Payton guy, but he had on side kicked the start the second half of a Super Bowl.
Nobody does that, Okay, nobody does that.
That's one of those you reaching your bag, you use that one time, you can't reach it all.
You can't you get over the two. You can't go over the two. And say, this is the problem.
Rob People are gonna say you are what you are, You do what you do, do the thing they got.
But there's winning time, and there's time when you gotta be able to coach and understand.
And I thought Dan Campbell got it.
If you remember the game last year right in the first half to end the first half, they had a chance. They were at the two or three yard line, a chance to going for another touchdown, and instead he kicked the field goaling. I was like, that's smart. He got the field goal. They're up by three scores. Don't play around and give them any momentum by not getting in, you know, getting in or whatever.
So I thought, that's different, Like.
He's taking the three points and then he went away from it.
Yeah, I think that's the problem is he's buying in. He might have read some self help books. He's writing some books. Folks, you know, the these genius ses. You are who you are, Do the same thing that got you there, you know, go with your girl, go with the same girl to the dance, whatever dance. Put the same dan And I'm with that oftentimes. But you have to use discretion, you have to use judgment, you have to use wisdom sometimes. Rob you gotta look at your team, you gotta look at the context of the game to score and say.
No, we need these points, we need point now, we just need these When they didn't. There was a point with seven minutes to go in the NFC Championship game.
They could have tied the game. Yeah, I know that was worse than than that, right, Like that was what I tied the game with about seven minutes to go. They could be a fumble intercept that could change the whole game. You don't get that field goal, you never get the lead, and sometimes you're getting you have to Sometimes this is where and this is applicable to our lives in general. You have to have somebody around you that can look you in your eyes, A good friend. Maybe it was brucear for you for all these years. Hey, Rob, nah Man, not that, not this, not her, not Magic City to Night Rob. No, No, I wasn't listening to that though, but I said, you at least need to have him in your life, right hey, not this?
Not that.
He needs to have a coach who looks at him. I don't know if it's been Johnson offensive coordinator. Hey, coach, get these points. Somebody that you know, you know what I mean? You got that friend where right?
No? No, no, no, that one friend that can always look at you like nah, Bro, relax.
And he needs that because he's single handedly two big games of the last three games he cost them NFC Championship game and then this past game yesterday against the Bucks. So two out of the last three games he's cost his team. That's rare for a coach to cost the team where he even has to admit it publicly. In the last you know two or the three one being crucial because you were a few minutes away from possibly going to a Super Bowl last year.
Even on the Lions home broadcast. Yeah, like usually the home broadcast is a home and they're not gonna make the coach look bad.
There were games.
Where they were yelling, hey, Dan, how about a time out now, like you know, like time where he didn't stop the clock that he should have and stuff like that. I'm not saying he's gonna be the greatest coach of all time, and he's all the way polished and he knows everything, but you can't hurt your team with stuff that just is routine coach. So that's where you have That's where I believe that Dan hasn't evolved yet, and that's what could wind up hurting the Lions as you go forward, because it ain't that easy. The last time they went to the NFC Championship game, it was a thirty year drought after it.
That's how I guarantee that's how long it could go. It's not everybody say you guys will be back. I said, hold on, yeah, hold on now, y'all told Dan Marino he was going back to this after year two.
Y'all got to relax with that.
So yeah, I think you just need to hire people to your weaknesses, right, That's what it makes some great successful people great. You hire to your weakness, and he needs that person who he can have. I don't know if it's a button. I don't know, if it's his wife, somebody somethingxt them. Relax, get the points, bruh
