Amnesty International South Africa says the new administration must demonstrate its ability to provide basic services and uphold human rights for all residents of South Africa. This as they argue that service delivery in the country has been severely compromised by corruption and poor policy implementation - among other things.

The presser focused on crime analysis, arrests, as well as progress on high-profile cases, among others. This press conference happens a day after a SARS lawyer, Advocate Coreth Naude, linked to high-profile matters in Durban was shot while driving in uMhlanga. SARS Commissioner, Edward Kieswetter, termed the attack an attempted assassination.
