The University of Cape Town’s Faculty of Social Development has been accused of racial discrimination after Professor Ndanga Noyoo revealed that some lecturers are allegedly awarding higher grades to white students while penalising black ones. Reacting to this issue, Parliament’s portfolio committee on higher education has described these allegations as deeply disturbing and it has called for an urgent and transparent investigation that will lay bare all the facts so that this issue is dealt with properly.
