The South African Human Rights Commission conducted an investigative inquiry into the state of water and sanitation service delivery in the Gauteng province from 19 to 21 May 2026. The investigative inquiry was prompted by numerous and persistent water and sanitation complaints received by the Gauteng Provincial Office over an extended period.
