Earlier today, the Legal Resource Centre alongside the Human Rights Media Trust and the German Aid agency, Brot fur die Welt launched a nationwide accountability campaign: State Capture and Beyond. This initiative is meant to address the epidemic corruption plaguing our young democracy, aiming to foster public participation in holding state power accountable through a robust multimedia strategy.

Yesterday, we spoke to ANC Eastern Cape member, Lwazi Rotya, about the High Court in KuGompo City’s decision to interdict the party’s provincial elective conference. Lwazi is part of a group of ANC members who wanted this conference to be interdicted. Earlier reports coming out of the Eastern Cape were that the Elective Conference will in fact continue today and this lead to members who had applied for the interdict to go back to court to have the party found in contempt of court.
