South Africa’s unemployment rate rose to 32.9% in the first quarter of this year, up from 32.1% in the previous quarter, data showed earlier today. The increase is the second quarter in a row that the official unemployment rate has risen, taking it closer to the record high above 35% reached in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
