Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has instructed Police Commissioner Fanie Masemola to disband the Police Task Team handling political killings in KwaZulu-Natal and across the country. Mchunu argues that the unit has failed to add any value to policing in South Africa hence it is no longer required. Some of you may recall that the task team was established in 2019 after the release of the Moerane Commission report that looked into the underlying causes of the murder of politicians in KwaZulu-Natal.
