Over 21% of Grade R teachers are not suitable for the job

The Department of Basic Education has conceded that over 21% of Grade R teachers across the country do not possess the requisite skills to teach. According to the department, KwaZulu-Natal has the highest number of unqualified Grade R teachers with 1 937, followed by the Western Cape with 1 416.
