New report titled “Structural dependencies perpetuate disproportionate childhood health burden from air pollution” shows that children in the poorest countries, including South Africa face a higher risk of death from air pollution. In 2021 alone, 709, 000 children under five died worldwide from air pollution. With South Africa being the sixth highest generator of electricity from coal in the world - what can be done to keep children safe from poor air quality?
