The Electoral Commission is warning the public to be cautious of AI-generated content ahead of the local government elections. This comes after it lodged a complaint over a deepfake video depicting former president Nelson Mandela urging older voters not to support the ANC. The IEC confirmed it reported the deepfake video to Real411, which is a platform established to report suspected election-related disinformation.
