Earlier on today, the Independent Electoral Commission briefed members of the media on preparations for next year’s Local Government Elections. During the briefing, the organisation revealed that the local government elections are likely to take place between November 2, 2026 and January 31, 2027. Interestingly, the commission also announced that they have registered 34 new political parties since May last year, and 13 of these were registered in the last month.
