Over the weekend a video emerged of a Louis Seeco, a golfer at Houghton Golf Club who shared that he was banned by the club for draping a Palestinian flag on his vehicle. The incident has sparked debate around the balance between the right to freedom of expression and the extent to which private institutions can impose limitations on that right.

The Constitutional Court has ruled that the directives by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) are not binding. The court confirmed that unlike the Public Protector, the commission must approach courts to give legal effect to its findings.
