Belgium plans to open a vast colonial-era geological archive on the Democratic Republic of Congo, containing almost 500 metres of mining records from the colonial era. These files could help the DRC identify unexplored mineral deposits, attract investors, and strengthen its control over a mining sector valued at $24 trillion.
