Renowned human rights lawyer, Clive Stafford Smith speaks to us about his efforts to free Dr Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani neuroscientist who gained international attention after her conviction in the US and is currently serving an 86-year sentence for attempted murder and other felonies at the Federal Medical Center in Texas. However, Siddiqui’s supporters firmly believe that she was wrongly jailed during the so called war on terror, a global military campaign that was carried out by the United States in response to the September 11 attacks in 2001. So what really happened and why is she still being held in jail?
