Calls for an investigation by the Military Ombud into the fire that killed six soldiers at the Lohatla combat training centre outside Postmasburg in the Northern Cape are mounting. This as mixed views have emerged in response to the tragic incident. The fire which allegedly broke out at a nearby mine moved from Kathu, spread rapidly, and ended up engulfing the military base on Friday evening. The tragedy happened at a time when the soldiers were preparing for the SA Army Vukuhlome exercise. Three soldiers suffered severe burns.
